Sushi

Took vacation today and slept in.
After I finally got up (around 11am :) ), I went shopping at Costco for salmon and Canadian Tire for some wood chips/mulch.
After I got home, I mowed the lawn and did some yard work before it rained.

Dinner today -> Sushi
Made some maki rolls with the salmon I got. Made a salmon, cucumber, and egg roll. I wanted to add avocado too, but they weren't ripe yet.

Useless Idol News:
Morning Musume is in Paris, France right now, for the 2010 Japan Expo. Info here. Looks like they will be performing a full concert, not just a few of songs like AKB48 did last year.

While some members of AKB48 are in LA right now, for the Anime Expo.
I was thinking about going to this when I first heard about it, but after reading about the mess it was last year when Morning Musume was there, and that you have to buy VIP Anime Expo tickets, and you have to stay at a certain hotel to get concert tickets, and the "meet and greet" was a $100 (this recently got changed to be free for 32 random people from a draw of 500; which to me is worse than paying $100); I decided not to go as it got too expensive.

Emi tried to help me order the AKB48 cards, but after filling out the order form we found out that the delivery of the cards was COD. My Japan Delivery Service doesn't accept COD, so I can't get them :( Maybe Yuko and Kasai card boxes will show up on ebay. Thanks for the help Emi.

Illusion

Today I was running on 3.5 hrs of sleep, and I wasn't tired at all. Last night, I just couldn't fall asleep. I went to bed around 1am. Layed there til about 1:30, and turned on the TV. I watch bits of Conan The Destroyer and Sister Act 2, I think I dosed off around 4am. I then woke up at 7:30am, 2 minutes before my alarm!

My dad got his 35yrs of service award at CMC today. He got a Sony Blue-ray/DVD Home Theatre System! The box was huge.
Ethan got his 5yrs of service award. He got a digital camcorder. It was about the size of an iphone.
Sandra also got her 5yrs of service award too. She got a telescope.
These gifts are way better than my 5yr award. I got a stupid luggage bag. My 10yr one better have some good stuff to pick.

StrikeFighters Take Another Loss

A makeup game for the CMC Strike Fighters today. We lost 21-10.
We normally have 5 pitchers on the team, but not a single one could make the game today. We had to make due with what we got.
Also, the 2 girls that played today, took injuries for the team. Both of them got hit in the legs/ankles and weren't very mobile after that.

Dinner today -> PC Seafood Lasagna.
Took it out of the freeze and straight into the microwave for 25 minutes.

Nothing else going on today, so here is a Mario Kart pic I found:

Weekend Report

Friday:
Ben and I discovered that Transformers: War for Cybertron's Co-op Campaign is not playable for offline multiplayer! We thought it was split screen for 2 players. Neither of us have Gold Membership on XBox Live so we won't be playing the multiplayer parts on the game. That really sucks! It's also not very bright of the creators/designers to not include offline multiplayer. It's really to bad too, as the game play is really fun and the graphics are very well done and detailed.

Saturday:
I wasted half the day playing Tranformers. Each mission takes about 3hrs. The levels are so long. Omega Supreme was so tough to beat! I died so many times.
I wasted the other half of the day downloading about 18GBs of Shukan AKB: AKB48 in Guam. The funniest part was during the Wake-up Pranks and Mariko drew on Yuko's face while she was asleep.

^ Yuko has Unibrow and Eyeballs on her Eyelids. LOL

Sunday:
Went to "Little Sheep" Mongolian Hot Pot with Stefano, Mallory, Tyler, Tanya and for lunch. Mallory, Stefano, and I were talking about coming here for alittle while and we finally went. We were there for almost 2hrs and filled up on alot of meat (4 plates of beef, 4 plates of lamb, and alot of chicken). I forgot to take pics of the food. I think I need people to remind me to take pics.

Useless Idol News:

Crazy Horse

Went to "Crazy Horse" steak house for James' Birthday Lunch. On the way out of CMC we saw that "The Works" had setup a mini-BBQ in the CMC parking lot. They were getting ready to give out FREE The Works Burgers for CMC employees!!! But we still went ahead as planned to Crazy Horse... I can't believe we passed up Free Works Burgers.

^ The Works at CMC.

At Crazy Horse, the rumour is that there are hot waitress working at the steak house; and there are... but as luck would have it, we got a male waiter! We blame Steve.
I ordered "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Burger". It was pretty good. Almost as good as a Works burger, but not quite there. I should have ordered a Stone Grilled Steak, and cooked it myself at the table. The stone grilling is their special feature. That looked really good.

Found this clip on YouTube: AKB48's version of SDN48's song "Yuuwako no Garter". SDN48 is AKB48's older sister group, who performs more adultish songs. This version has Yuko, Mariko, and Kojima performing. I'm sure the garter belt they throw out at the end to the crowd, is worth tons of $$$.

Earthquake!!!

A 5.7 scale Earthquake was felt in Ottawa today, around 2pm.
The CMC building rattled for about 10 seconds. I thought it was just some big guy running with a heavy cart upstairs. I only realized it was an earthquake when my R2-D2 and other toys fell off my computer monitor. It was actually pretty cool.
Did anyone outside of Ottawa feel it?

I wonder if any of my stuff fell down at my house? For sure all my Mario Kart figs rolled off my computer monitor. Maybe my anime figs fell over too. Hopefully none of my Transformers: Animated toys fell, as they are setup such that if 1 falls, it would cause a domino effect to knock them all down like bowling pins @o@Ahhh! I guess I'll find out tonight.

Update:
Good old sturdy house :) Nothing fell over. Not even these (not so sturdy) anime figs on my shelf.

Cybertron & Maids

Useless Tranformers News:
I got "Transformers: War for Cybertron" for XBox 360 today. I got it from Best Buy as it was $39.99 with the Jazz exclusive. I went to EB Games before hand, to see if I can get the Shockwave exclusive, but they were charging $64.99 for the game! To me, Shockwave isn't worth the $25 difference in price.

1st Day of Summer

Today is the 1st day of Summer and the longest day of the year. Just an FYI :P

I discovered some cool new channels on Rogers cable today.

^ Channel 204 - Cottage Channel.
(You can hear loons and frogs in the background).

^Channel 205 - Aquarium Channel.
(This tank is way cleaner than mine...)

^ Channel 206 - Sunset Channel.
(Ocean shore sounds in the background. I find it kind of bright.)

Dinner today -> Chicken Rice.
I marinated the chicken drumsticks with some salt for a few hours and then cooked the chicken directly in the rice cooker with the rice. The chicken comes out moist and the rice absorbs all the chicken juices and saltly marinade. Good stuff.

Weekend Report

Friday:

Saturday:
Woke up early to watch "Transformers" on Teletoon Retro, but I ended up watching Japan vs Netherlands in Soccer instead. Japan lost 1-0. It's too bad, as Japan played pretty well.

Went out for my Birthday dinner with Jeff, Linda, Everett, Ben, and Jane. We went to Le Buffet du Continent. I only ate 3 plates! My mistake was eating too many ribs. They were really good and I ate about a dozen+ of them. I wanted more crab legs and dessert stuff, but I was full of rib meat.

^ Everett's Plate... the baby can really put it away, hehehe.

Went back to Jeff and Linda's place afterwards for some gaming: Zombie Dice, Bohnanza, and Ticket to Ride: Europe. Anthony showed up later for some gaming too.

Sunday:
Went out for Dim Sum at Chinatown with the family. The occasion... Ben was showing off Jane to my parents and grandparents... woooo the big "meeting the parents" step :P.
Forgot to take pics of the Dim Sum food, because the restaurant was too hot and I was sweating while eating.

Also, my mom kept ordering food nobody wanted to eat.
It went something like this:
Ben: "I want the fried wontons."
Mom: "OK, 1 fried wonton plate... and a plate of fried shrimp balls and shrimp rolls too."
Ben, Andy: "I don't want the shrimp balls or the shrimp rolls. Order it if your going to eat it."
Mom: "Look, egg tarts! Lets get 3 plates."
Andy, Grandma: "I don't want egg tarts."
Mom: "OK, 2 plates than."
etc...
... time lapse to end of meal...
Mom: "Andy, eat a shrimp ball..."
Andy: "I already ate 2 because I had eat it..."
Mom: "Then eat the egg tart..."
Andy: "I don't like the egg tarts from here, the tart shell are not flaky like ones from MTL."
Mom: "Ben, Jane, Mom (grandma) eat the egg tarts."
Ben, Jane, Grandma: @_@ "... fine..."
etc...

Win by Default

Strike Fighters softball game was called off due to rain and due to the other team not showing up. Most of our team showed up at the diamond, but no one from the other team appeared. By 6:30pm the rain had become a light mist, and we could have played. I think we will win by default. Our record will be 5-1.

Dinner today -> Rideau Takeout.
Since the game was cancelled, and the diamond was near Rideau Resturant, I went there to pick up some Chinese Takeout. I got Beef Chow Mein and Dry Fried Rice Noodles with Beef. I haven't had Rideau in awhile and it was so good.

Creamy Yoke Eggs

Dinner today -> Eggs and Toast.
I saw on a NHK Japanese science show called "Science for Everyone", that to make the egg yoke really creamy, you need to do a few things:
1 - crack the egg carefully into a bowl, by not letting it drop very far. (Dropping the egg more than 10cm will damage the yoke cells.)
2 - spoon out the yoke and cook it for a few seconds before pouring the white back over it.
3 - add a couple spoons of water into the pan and cover.
I tried the above out and the yoke did seem to taste creamier, but I also over cooked the yoke more than I like. I'll have to try it again.

^ Creamy Egg Yoke and Toast.

The show also showed how to make inverse hard boiled eggs (aka yoke on the outside and white in the middle.) I'll try it out before posting about it.

Weekend Report

Friday:
Free Tim Horton's donuts and coffee at CMC today, courtesy of the buildings superintendent. Scored my favorite Boston Cream donut. Got a 2nd one later that was sugar covered. Steve, you totally missed out :p

Game 1 of the Softball Tournament was today. I can't believe we lost!!! The 1st game was verses a D-Division team too! The final score was 9-8. That means we are playing in the D-Division for the rest of the games.

Saturday:
Game 2: We lost again 12-26, against another D-Division team!!! Our defense was horrid, and we underestimated their girls' hitting power. We should have pitched to them like the guys.

Game 3: We won 17-5. By the 4th inning, it was 16-2, and one of our players suggested we ease up and not run up the score. There weren't very good.

Game 4: We just lost 10-9. I think the umpire made a few bad calls in this game and it cost us.

The Highlight of the Tournament: In Game 4, we had a streaker in middle of the 3rd inning! She was a looker too. Jeno rated her an 8/10.

Dinner today -> Roast Pork and Brie on Baby Portabella Mushrooms with Chinese Greens.
Made another batch of Baby Portabella mushrooms for dinner. I used some Roast Pork from T&T instead of bacon this time. Adds a different flavour but still really good. Didn't feel like making rice, so I made some Chinese greens to go with it.

Went out for dinner with my family, for my birthday. We went to Hockey Sushi. We ordered alot of items from the menu, and my initial plan was to only eat sashimi and sushi (aka only raw stuff, nothing cooked). BUT through an ordering mix-up by Susanna, we ordered 7 teriyaki steaks! She thought it was ordered by the piece, but we got 7 plates of steak!!!

Afterwards we had cake... Black Forest Cake, my favorite. I like the cheap kind from Metro too, not the expensive ones from cake stores. The simple ones tastes the best.

Thursday Night Magic

Some 4-player Magic gaming tonight, with Ben, Gavin, and Gordon.
Before we started, Emi showed us baby Yuto's sitting ability. Then, Ben made Yuto cry! Seems like Yuto doesn't like it when Ben touches his hand or try to hold him :P

We played about 5 hours of Magic. In that time, I think we only got about 8 games in. I won the 1st game, even after I mulliganed my starting hand down to 4 cards :) After that, I won a couple more games with various decks. I think we all won atleast 1 game.

The big news today, and on almost every morning news channel in Japan, is the AKB48 Election. It ended today and Oshima Yuko was voted #1 by the fans ^_^ This is huge, because she beat out the "Face" of AKB48: Maeda Atsuko (who got #2).

Which "Transformers: War for Cyberton" pre-order exclusive should I get? Jazz or Shockwave? (Demolishor doesn't count as he isn't G1.)

Monday Audit

Completed my TRR and external audit today, and everything passed! YES! Now, only 2 days of Formal Testing left, but that's the easy part.

Today felt like a really long day. Mainly because I was pretty antsy about the audit. Also, it didn't help that I didn't get much sleep last night because:
1) I kept thinking of questions the SQA guy might ask me, and alot of questions I did not know the answers to,
2) I had to wake up at 3am to watch NHK, because "Wednesday J*Pop" (which is on Sundays?) had AKB48 on as the special guest.

Useless Idol News:

Weekend Report

Friday:
Scrambling at work these past few days. Lots of documents to be released, and audits to be performed and closed. Why? On Monday I have a TRR and then an external process audit by our customer's SQA. My 1st external audit and I'm not sure what to expect. I hear the SQA guy is very thorough and picky.

BTW: No "Shukan AKB" today, because of the news conferences and specials about the Japanese Prime Minister resigning.

Dinner today -> Fried Rice with Corn, Bacon, and whole Straw Mushrooms.
Didn't know what to cook today. I looked in the cupboard and spied a can of corn and straw mushrooms, so after a little "Iron Chef Macgyvering", I whipped this up :) Made it abit spicy with some Cayenne Pepper.

Donations needed and accepted for the Fongpay Foundation :) Please insert change in my BumbleBee Bank. Why you ask? Because of this stunt AKB48's Team Dragon will pull for their CD release on July 21!!!
Team Dragon will release 11 different versions of the "Dragon Ball Kai" themed single. 9 Limited Versions and 2 Regular versions. The limited versions are a different cover and DVD track for each of the 7 girls and 2 for Team Dragon.
Also, each limited version CD has 1 of 3 different cards (3 of each girl or team) in it to collect. So in order for a collector to get everything, min buy is 29 CDs! This is another huge money-making marketing scheme.

Details from Stage 48:
Limited A: Maeda Atsuko ver. (Team Dragon jacket, Maeda Trading Card (1 out of 3 types) and After-Recording Maeda ver.)
Limited B: Takahashi Minami ver. (Team Dragon jacket, Takahashi Trading Card (1 out of 3 types) and After-Recording Takahashi ver.)
Limited C: Watanabe Mayu ver. (Team Dragon jacket, Watanabe Trading Card (1 out of 3 types) and After-Recording Watanabe ver.)
Limited D: Oshima Yuko ver. (Team Dragon jacket, Oshima Trading Card (1 out of 3 types) and After-Recording Oshima ver.)
Limited E: Itano Tomomi ver. (Team Dragon jacket, Itano Trading Card (1 out of 3 types) and After-Recording Itano ver.)
Limited F: Kojima Haruna ver. (Team Dragon jacket, Kojima Trading Card (1 out of 3 types) and After-Recording Kojima ver.)
Limited G: Kashiwagi Yuki ver. (Team Dragon jacket, Kashiwagi Trading Card (1 out of 3 types) and After-Recording Kashiwagi ver.)
Limited H: Team Dragon ver. (Team Dragon jacket, Team Dragon Trading Card (1 out of 3 types) and After-Recording Team Dragon ver.)
Limited I: Dragon Ball ver. (Original Miracle Battle Card (1 out of 3 types) and After-Recording Team Dragon ver.)

Regular A: Team Dragon ver. (Team Dragon jacket)
Regular B: Dragon Ball ver. (Dragon Ball jacket)

Because I want the cards, I'll probably end up buying from HMV Japan Yuko (D) and Takamina (B) versions. Big maybe for Yukirin (G) version. Lesser maybe for Maeda (A) and Team Dragon (H) versions.

Strike Fighters Lose!

CMC Strike Fighters lost our 1st game of the season today :( We lost 16-15 against a B-division Team (We are C-division).
Going into the last inning down 16-10, we came back and almost won. We had the tying and winning runs on 3rd and 2nd too.
It also didn't help that I stuck out with bases loaded in the 3rd inning... Aurgggh!

So Gavin sent me an early birthday present yesterday. He won it for me in Japan from the UFO arcades, and here it is:
