Weekend Report: Happy Birthday Evelyn!!!

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY EVELYN!!!

We all got together at my cousins house for a big feast, to celebrate Evelyn's 1st birthday.
The appetizers:

The main course: (clockwise from top-left: Chinese greens, mussels, shrimp & scallop in white sauce, baby bok choi, BBQ wings, mussels, sliced steak, yellow duck, salmon, beef kabobs, and yellow chicken, and pork hock.

My plate #1 had abit of everything.  The steak was perfect medium rare, salmon was well cooked, but the best was the shrimp & scallop in white sauce.  It was really good on rice.

Sunday I made pork side-ribs in the pressure cooker.  Finished in the oven after glazing with No Limits BBQ sauce.

Got a couple packages in the mail today.  1st package contained my KickStarter "Character Quest: Heroes" game.  A quick 1-4 player hero game played against the game deck.

Second package was from HMV Japan.  Got my copies of AKB48's 40th single "Bokutachi wa Tatakawanai" and a couple magazines feature Kuramochi Asuka and Kashiwagi Yuki.  The CDs also have my election voting tickets.

Went to Comic Book Shoppe at lunchtime today.  Picked up some comics (Munchkin #5 is out) and these Worf and Data magnets.

On the way home, I hit Franks.  Right before I ordered, one of the girls there predicted my order "3 #1s on white.".  Cool.  I've become a regular :)

Useless Softball News:
CMC Strike Fighters lost to Sons of Pitches tonight: 15-10.  We now have a 0-3 record.  They had a couple really good players and a bunch of home run hitters.  Also the team seams to have changed.  Last year they were just a bunch of A-holes and starting fights.  Now they are more calm.
I hit 0-for-2.  I was bad tonight, but I did score an RBI.

Dinner today -> Chicken Rice.
Made chicken rice in my rice cooker for the first time tonight.  I put too much water in it, but other than that it was pretty good.

Got 2 more boxes of AKB48 Treasure Cards today in the mail.

After opening 3 boxes, I still didn't get the whole set.  I'm missing the Ace of Hearts card for the playing card subset, and I'm missing about 10 member cards for the basic set.  I'm hoping eBay might have the singles I need, but I'm tempted to get a couple more boxes and try for them that way.

Weekend Report: Robot Hockey Awards Banquet

Food this weekend ->
Friday was the annual Robot Hockey Awards Banquet.  It's held every year at Rideau Restaurant.  This year's winner was K-Lowe and 7 of the managers attended.  For food, we ordered:
Schezwan Beef, Lemon Chicken, Salt & Pepper Squid, Salt & Pepper Pork Chop, Shrimp with Chef Sauce, Beef Chow Mein, and Fried Fish Fillets in Corn Sauce.  The service is usually fast, but it was really slow that day.  We got these 5 dishes and then waited for the rest.

1st Wave of Rideau Food.

Pork side-ribs are on sale at SuperStore.  I got a pack, cooked them in my pressure cooker, and finished them in the oven on Broil.

Useless Gaming News:
4 Player gaming at Anthony's.  We started with Antidote.  Anthony won.  I scored -9.
Then we played a few rounds of Meteor.  We did OK defending the Earth.  We learned we had to retro-fit to gain more cards, otherwise you can't win without doing so.
Finally we played a bunch of games of "Lift Off! Get me off this Planet".  It's a pretty fun game with modular lift off points to make it different each time.

Got another KickStarter game today.  It was "Lift Off!  Get me off this Planet!".  I have high hopes for this game.  It should be really fun with a modular game board.  Basically the planet is going to explode and you need to get all your meeples off the planet.  You can cooperate with other players at the start, but in the end, it's everyone for themselves.

This year's AKB48 group election has started.  Today the preliminary results were revealed.  Kitahara Rie placed 10th!  That's great!

Free Shirt #1 of 3

Lunch today -> Baby Back Rib Trio.
Went to Walmart to pick up some WD-40 at lunchtime.  I read it can be used to repel insects, wasps, and ants.  Dropped by Farmboy afterwards and got the baby back ribs trio.  Got roasted potatoes and sesame broccoli as sides.  The broccoli was the best part of the meal.

Got the 1st of 3 free shirts today.  I got the Cheerios Bee "Who needs pants" shirt :)

Useless Softball News:
2nd straight loss for the CMC Strike Fighters tonight.  We lost to Da Knobs 21-13 in a late night game.  We had a couple bad innings where we had a few errors and gave up more runs than we should have.  Jeno and Steve must have had holes in their gloves tonight :)
I hit 2-for-3 with a triple, ground out, and a single.

Long Weekend Report -> Game of Thrones Season 4 Cards

Food this weekend ->
Made Mini Sausage Corn Muffins.  I used the recipe from here, but substituted chorizo sausage from FarmBoy instead of hotdog.  I over filled some of them, but I think they turned out pretty good.  Susanna says they are too sweet, but I didn't think so.  I do think they need a sauce to them.  Either ketchup or a smoky bbq sauce.

Also steamed some corn and lobster in my pressure cooker.  Corn came out perfect and it soaked up some of the lobster juice and dashi water.  The lobster was small, but lots of eggs in it.

Useless Gaming News:
Played a few 5-player games at Brian's place.  Star Wars Imperial Assault was the long game.  We succeeded the mission, but it would have been easier if Brian would have tried to co-operate with us and do the mission instead of trying to kill the super strong elite Imperial Guard.  He also gave up twice and just tried to ruin the game for the rest of us because we didn't want to do what he said.  His game playing is so annoying and babyish sometimes.

Then we played Meteor.  It's a 5minute or less game.  Pretty fun, but needs alot of coordination in silence and using gestures.  Probably play it more at CMC gaming lunches.

Useless Cards News:
Got another box of Marvel 3D Cards today.  I actually wanted 2 boxes, but the store didn't have any more and couldn't order more.  If it wasn't from the same case, I didn't want to order any ways.
Including yesterday's cards, I have full Legendary play sets of Spider-Slayers, Circus of Crime, Howard the Duck, Deadpool, and Black Widow.  I got a double set of Howard the Duck, but if I had gotten another box from the same case, it had a good chance of having the remaining of the set (Hulk, Man-Thing, Bulldozer Driver, and Photographer cards)

The 2 sketch cards I have are for Captain America and Hawkeye.  Not sure who the artist is for Captain America, but Hawkeye was done by Babisu Kourtis.

Useless Gaming News:
Played 3 rounds of Saboteur 2 during Gaming Lunch today.  6 players makes this game really fun.

Saboteur 2.

The 1st game was done in 5 minutes.  Everyone was a regular dwarf but me.  I was the saboteur and then switched to profiteer, netting 0 gold.
The 2nd game was long.  I was a geologist and was going to score 5 gold, but on the last few turns, James made me switch roles to the blue dwarf and the green dwarves won.
The 3rd game, I was the saboteur.  I bluffed too well that I was the geologist and my co-saboteur made me switch role right near the end of the game again!  I became a green dwarf and lost.
Great game.  Highly recommended.

Useless Toy News:
Picked up a few more packs of Simpsons Series 2 Lego figures.  I got Ms.Krabappel, Martin Prince, Dr.Hibbert, and Smithers.  I got a double of Martin today too.  For some reason I thought it was Maggie.

I ate a "Tiger Nut" my co-worker gave me.  He said it is super-food.  It tastes very nutty, but the skin is chewy and woody.  I read the wiki later, and it says your suppose to soak it to make it easier to eat.  I didn't know that.  I just crunched throught it.

Useless Gaming News:
I picked up a box of Upper Deck Marvel 3D gaming cards today.  Each pack contains 2 Legendary game cards that are playable in the Legendary board game.  My box got me a full set of Spider-Foe henchmen, Howard the Duck hero cards, and Black Widow hero cards.  It makes sense to have a full set of a hero in 1 box instead of random game cards.  I also got Fortune Teller bystander and Stan Lee bystander game cards.  The sketch card I got was Captain America and the autograph card was for the Egghead villian. 
FYI: Didn't get a full set of the base cards in 1 box.  Missing about 12 cards.

Ecto-1

Season opener for the CMC Strike Fighters tonight.  We face off against DRS.  It was a close game to the very end, but we lost in the last inning 9-8.  I think a couple errors in the 3rd inning at 1st base cost us the game.
Thanks Margaret for coming out to be a spare girl player for us.  You left so fast, I didn't get a chance to say thanks.
I hit 1-for-2, with a fly out and a single.  Their pitcher was very good, and got me on the fly out with a slower change-up pitch.
 
Lunch today -> Sushi.
Susanna and I picked up discount sushi last night at Bayshore: 2 boxes for $12.  I got a Love Roll box and a Black Dragon Roll box.  Good food for a great price.

My co-worker gave me and exclusive promo vinyl Ecto-1 figure.  He got it through his brother-in-law who does online unboxing and reviews for companies, so he gets alot of free promo stuff.

Lunch today -> Salad Bar.
In a break between rain storms today, I dropped by Farm Boy to pick up lunch.  I was thinking of picking up just 7 or 8 chorizo pogos for lunch.  I decided against it and got my usual caesar salad + steak + a few other veggies + only 2 chorizo pogos.  I also got a couple jalapeno wontons.  Susanna said they were good, but I didn't like them.  They weren't even that spicy.  I think the chorizo was spicier.
