Siege Ratchet and Refraktor

Dinner today -> Steak, Eggplant, Mushrooms and Rice.
Steak is on sale at Sobey's.  Got a couple and cooked one for dinner.  I also cooked some Chinese eggplant with some mushrooms in butter and soy sauce.  I used that to top some chicken flavour instant rice.  Then I sliced the steak and add that to the bowl.  Good stuff :)  The rice soaked up all the drippings/butter sauce.

Useless Comic News:
Dollarama has started putting some expensive Graphic Novels on their book shelves.  They are only $4.  I got a bunch of Marvel graphic novels including X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, and Avengers.  The thick Invincible Iron Man book has a suggest price of $40!
$4 Graphic Novels.

Useless Transformers News:
Found some new Transformers this week.
First Toys R Us got the Transformers Siege Refraktor Hascon box set.
Refraktor Hascon Box.
It comes with 3 Refraktors in camera mode and a Kremzeek.  The camera is pretty cool; and 3 the weapons combine together to make the tripod stand.
Camera Mode + Kremzeek.
Robot modes.  I thought they were supposed to be diaclone colours but they aren't.  2 are the same and the middle one has a green chest with no Decepticon symbol.
Robot Mode + Kremzeek.
Ship modes are meh.  The extra attachments don't fit in ship mode either.  No point in transforming to ship mode.  It's all about the camera mode.
Meh + Kremzeek.

I also got the EB Games exclusive TF:Siege Ratchet (FYI there are not Ratchets left in Kanata EB Games).
Exclusive Ratchet.
Repaint of Ironhide with a slight remold of some parts and a new weapon accessory.
Ambulance Mode.

The final new Transformer I got was TF:Cyberverse Gnaw.  He's got a neat spin attach in robot mode.
Gnaw.
Sharkticon mode is good too.  It only lacks move-ability for the arms (aka they don't move at all), but other than that, it looks like the movie sharkticons.

Weekend Report -> Root Canal

Got a root canal on Thursday.  My back bottom molar was dead (I'm pretty sure my dentist caused it when fixing a crack tooth.)  The operation took over 2hrs.  The operation involved alot of stabbing and cutting motions, a mini soldering iron, and alot of drilling.  I didn't feel any of it, but I did feel the pushing.  Also there was a operating guard put up to prevent stuff from falling into my mouth.   BUT because of the guard, the assistant never suctioned any of the spit building up in my mouth, AND since I couldn't feel my lips I didn't know I was drooling until the drool hit my ear!

Food this weekend ->
My tooth was mostly fine the same day.  To test it out, I ate some fried chicken, flat breads, and sushi for dinner.  I only had some discomfort the next morning when I was brushing my teeth as my gums were still tender.
Sushi.

Since I took Friday off for recovery, I went to The Fry and got some chicken and rice cakes.  I got the half-and-half of chicken with sauce and chicken with soy and garlic.  I also got regular rice cakes.  This was spicier than last time.
Korean Fried Chicken and Rice Cakes.

Useless Food News:
Susanna and I went to Bayshore and in the Japanese store were some snack packs of fried mushrooms.  I got one of each bag.  I like them.  It like eating chips, but it's mushrooms instead.
Fried Mushroom Snacks.

Useless Gaming News:
Games night at Jeff's house on Friday night.  We played Sushi Go!, Roll for it!, FUSE, Ship Shape, and Quacks of Quedlinburg.

Comeback Win!

Lunch yesterday -> McDonalds
Monday was the last day of the $3 Big Macs.  I got 2 for lunch with a coffee.  Steve says the QuarterPounders are next, but don't know when it starts.

Useless Softball News:
Strike Fighters cameback, down by 3 runs in the last inning tonight, to beat GDC 16-17!
Andrew lead off the and hit a double.
Steve hit it deep for a fly-out but got Andrew to 3rd base.
I lined it up the middle with a single to score Andrew.
Maureen popped fly out.
Gary hit a single and I got to 2nd.
Marc launched it deep to the fence for a double and scored myself and Gary to tie the game.
Sean finished it off with deep single to score Marc for the win!
We play GDC again next week.
Tonight I hit 2-for-3: fly out, single, and single.  I also scored 2 RBI.

Useless Food News:
Picked up the 3 new Lay's Chips flavours at Walmart: Cheesy Garlic Bread, Onion Rings, and Pizza.  I opened Onion Rings first as it's the one I have least expectations for.  They taste like onion rings from Harvey's.  It's not bad.   Will try the others later.
New Lay's Chips.

Useless Transformers News:
Centrum Walmart has the 2 new battle masters: Caliburst and Smashdown.  As of Tuesday 9:30pm there were 3 of each left.  Nothing else new at Kanata Super Walmart and Toys R Us.

Weekend Report -> Soy Sauce and Butter.

Food this weekend ->
Made a steak dish with snow peas on Saturday.  I read that soy sauce mixed with butter made a magical sauce.  I tried it and it wasn't that magical.  It was OK and maybe a little on the "too salty" side.  Still the dish overall was good.  I ate it with some cheese bread sticks from Metro.
Steak and Snow Peas in Magic Sauce.

Got a quarter watermelon slice from Farmboy.  It was very sweet and juicy.  I'll need to go get more.  Susanna says to buy the pre-cut ones so you can see if they are good and juicy and not dry.  You pay abit more, but worth not buying a bad watermelon.
I also got some yellow peaches from Walmart.  The peaches were perfectly ripe and soft.  They weren't too sweet, but I liked it.
Fruits.

Useless TV News:
Went over to Julie's place Friday night to finish watching the last 2 episodes of iZombie.  The series ended well, with all the story lines closed.
I haven't seen Sherlock in awhile and he had to stay by me/touching me the whole time we were watching the shows.  He's such a good boy :)

$3 Big Macs

Dinner yesterday -> Big Macs
Big Macs are on sale for $3 until Monday.  I got 4 of them yesterday for dinner.  I ate 3 and save the 4th for today.  I think the McDonald's by my house has already started the new changes to the Big Mac.  The buns are different.  They are better tasting and chewier, and they look to have perfect domes.  I may get a few more before the sale ends :)

Useless Puzzle News ->
Most of my basement is re-organized new, so I started building this Ravensburger Escape Puzzle Susanna got me for my birthday.  It's only 759 pieces.  I took me a few hours over 3 nights to build the "Vampire's Castle".  The completed puzzle is slightly different from the box picture, so it doesn't give away all the puzzles on the box.
Vampire's Castle Escape Puzzle.
There are 8 puzzles in the picture.  The solution to each puzzle is a 3-4 digit number, then you search for the number along the edge pieces.  When you complete all 8 puzzles (the answers are online, as some of these puzzles are reaching abit to get the answer), you combine the pieces together to make a mini-picture to solve the overall problem (this one was how to defeat/drive back the vampire?).
I looked at some reviews online and they say "Vampire's Castle" is the weakest/worst of the 4 Escape Puzzles available.  I may get another one, but the puzzles were not that good in this one.

Weekend Report -> Garlic Fest

Food this weekend ->
Susanna and I went to the Carp Garlic Fest on Saturday.  It was pretty busy with lots to see,eat, and buy.
Garlic Fest Display.
I bought about 10 purple garlic bulbs.  We also bought some fresh dill bread and garlic cheese pull-apart bread.  The dill bread was good, especially when I dipped it in some whipped smoked salmon.  The garlic cheese pull-apart was not good.  There was very little cheese in it, garlic only on the top, and it did NOT pull-apart.
Dill Bread and Garlic Cheese NOT Pull-Apart Bread.
Before going home, we walked to the Carp Creamery.  I got a Black Cheery Ice Cream in a cone.  Lots of cherries in it and it was very good.
Black Cherry Ice Cream.

Dinner Saturday was from The Fry.  They are only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays now.  Only 3 days a week... I think might be closing soon.  Anyways, I got a small Garlic and Soy Chicken and an order of Rice Cakes.  Both were excellent.
Korean Fried Chicken and Rice Cakes.

Dinner Sunday was steak with a side of mushrooms with red onions, corn, and fresh tomatoes.  Cooked it on my new Lagostina frying pan.  It was on sale for $40 from $140 at Canadian Tire.  It better last longer than 2 years.
Steak Dinner.

Useless Gaming News:
4 Player Gaming at Brian's on Friday night.  We played 4 new games:
Ship Shape - A really fun bidding and tile game where you build your cargo to score points over 3 rounds.  It was just released on Kickstarter, but I got my copy from the store.
Ancestree - A family tree building game using tile drafting.  Good game too, but you need to commit to a scoring method to win (family chain/marriages/gold).
Ancestree.
Spy Master - A worker movement game with card manipulation to score mission points.  Good game, but lacks something to get more movement for the neutral agents.
Spy Master.
Throw, Throw Burrito - Just like Exploding Kittens, but when you get a special card match, it triggers throwing foam burritos.  Not my type of game.  Aimed for kids/teenagers.  This game will definately break something in the house.

2nd Batter.

Useless Softball News:
Strike Fighters lost to Batmen tonight.  I think we lost 11-6.  We kept it close in the beginning, but their bats were hitting our pitches, while we couldn't hit so well against theirs.  We were also short 1 player for 3 innings.  Margaret got lost in Kanata and was late :)  Everyone kept asking me to call and text her to see where she was.

Tonight I hit 1-for-3 with ground out, ground out, single, and a walk.

I was hitting in the 2nd spot tonight.  I normally don't hit that high in the lineup, so I think that messed me up.  I was up at-bat well before I was normally warmed up.

I was also getting eaten by so many mosquitoes.  I sprayed OFF on my hat, arms and back of the legs.  I didn't spray the front of my legs because I have the catcher leg guards on.  The mosquitoes figured that out and bit me under the armour!

Long Weekend Report -> Treasure Hunt Over.

Food this weekend ->
Got some BOGO sushi on Friday night before heading to Gavin's for some gaming.  I gave 2 packs to Ben afterwards, but my 2 packs wasn't enough to quench my sushi craving.  I went back on Sunday to get more sushi.  There were lots of people waiting for the BOGO on Sunday, and I missed the start because I went to Walmart for too long.  What I got was the best stuff I could grab.
Sunday's Sushi Selection.

I got Burger King on Sunday.  Used a 2 Whopper meal coupon.  The coke was too sweet.  I couldn't drink it all.
BK.

Useless Gaming News:
So we finished playing the Gold Rush Canada Saturday morning.  We got to the Francois level, which I'm pretty sure is level 9 of 10.  The winner found the money on Thursday around 11:10 pm.  We still played on incase they were wrong/cheated.
The revealed all the puzzles and answers on Saturday night at 6pm at the wrap party, but we couldn't go.  They aren't posting the answers too.

Ben and I were instead playing boardgames at Brian's with Gordon.  We played Missile Command first.  It's a quick game were you try to destroy each other's cities with some bluffing/negotiations thrown in.
Missile Command.
Then we played Hive Mind.  It's a word game where each player writes down things that match the question.  It seemed very much aimed to kids/families and felt like a dumbed down version of Sixes.
Kids Game.
Finally we Challenge of the Superfriends.  This game is OK.  It's a variant of Eggs and Empires but not as good.
So-so game.
