New Dad

I discovered this morning that I'm a new dad! I have a new Baby Batman Fish in my aquarium! It's the size of my little fingernail. He hides behind the water jet most of the time.
I didn't notice any other baby fish around. They probably weren't as smart as this one and got eaten by the others.
I'm going to call this baby Batman Fish, Robin :)

Useless Softball News:
CMC Strike Fighters played a late game vs Hellcats tonight. It was a really close game, but we couldn't hold the lead and lost in the final inning 28-27, on the very last play. James must have lost the ball in the glare from the moon ;)
MVP: Fongpay. I was picking up the slack for our missing-in-action power hitters: Stefano, Steve, and Mallory. I went 4 for 4 with a Homer, 2 Doubles, and a Single. I also drew a Walk during my next At-Bat after my homer. The homer was my 1st over-the-fence home run in 3 seasons too :)

AKB48 performed their new single, "Flying Get" at "Hey! Hey! Hey!'s 700th episode special" last week (the show that brought us "Silent Library").

Useless Softball News:
CMC Strike Fighters got slaughtered today. I think we lost 47-7 to Junkyard Dogs. Every bounce went their way, and our fielding was horrible.
I dropped an easy pop-up and missed a play at the plate, but I did go 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 RBIs.
Tomorrow we play a rained out game vs Hellcats. I hope we do better as it could be a tough game.
BTW Marc: James can play for us on Thursday.

Finished making my 2 Day Stew today. Farmboy was out of soup bones, so there's no delicious bone marrow in this batch of stew :(. Still the stew was really tasty and the meat was very tender.

Oshima Yuko's iPhone App and Maeda Atsuko's iPhone App are on sale right now for $3.99 each. I discovered that Yuko's videos are subbed in english too! But Maeda's aren't.

HLJ has a sale on Bandai toys. Look what I found on clearance. I'm really tempted to order it... maybe this weekend.

Zombie Preparedness

Atlanta houses the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (I learned this by playing Pandemic). I learned today that there is an official Zombie Preparedness Plan from the CDC. This might be something I may need to know.

Dinner today -> Spaghetti with Hot Pepperoni.

Dessert today -> 2007 Strawberry Jello.
Dessert was Strawberry Jello that expired in Sept 2007. The powdered bones, sugar, and flavour crystals still dissolved and mixed in the water and solidified. It tasted fine too.

Perfectly Clean Teeth

I had a dentist appointment this morning. I had perfectly clean teeth again :) No cavities 22yrs running. The dentist did tell me that I had small chips on 2 of my molars. Must have been when I crunch down on those lobster shells or crab legs.

Lunch today -> 3 Dish Combo from T&T.
After the dentist I went to T&T to pick up lunch. Got a 3 dish combo. I chose Sweet & Sour Pork, Pork Belly, and Tofu & Mushrooms.

Play Nintendo Everyday to Stay Sharp?

There was a party at my desk on Saturday. Noodles and Popcorn! And all of it just for me!

I had to spend Friday night and all day Saturaday at CMC to work on one of my projects. I was trying to avoid this situation by telling the team 2 weeks ago to set their stuff to be ready for me to review and close. They didn't really listen and only gave me about 8 items. But on Friday they gave us 35+ items to be done for Monday! What the @#$%^&!!!

Food this weekend ->
Got a Flattened Chicken from Sobey's. I wanted to see if it was better than M&M Meat's version.

I would say the flattened chicken from M&M Meats is better. The chicken is not as moist and I like M&M's seasoning more. Still, Sobey's is cheaper.

Not as good as I remember it. There seems to be less mushrooms and meat that I remember. Don't think I'll get this frozen pizza anymore.

AKB48 had their 3 day concert at the Seibu Dome over the weekend. At the end of the 3rd day they drew the match-ups for the Jankenpon tournament. The top 16 will be the senbatsu lineup for the 24th single.

Lunch today -> Vietnamese Subs.
4 of these 8inch subs for $10 incl tax. They're not stuffed with as much meat as the T&T version, but those cost $3.99 + tax.

Today was the "Day of the Ox" in Japan. It's suppose to mean it is the hottest day of the year today. Looks like it was right, because today the forcast for Kanata was +46C. I think it will be the hottest day of the year.

Also on the Day of the Ox, it is tradition to eat grilled eel. Eel meat is suppose to give you stamina to push through the rest of the summer.
I was watching some chefs grilling eels on NHK News this morning, and the eel bento boxes they were making looked so tasty.

Started off with a couple of rounds of a 70's classic: Inner Circle.

Softball Victories in +39C Heat

CMC Strike Fighters played a softball double header vs Lockheed Martin in the +39C heat today.
We won Game 1, 13-5; and then we beat them 30-6 in Game 2. I totaled 5 singles, a double, and 1 pop fly.
The weather wasn't too bad since it was cloudy and there was a slight breeze, but my shirt was still drenched in sweat at the end of the games.
MVP: Marc. He was on fire. The ball seemed to magically seek out his glove.
Honourable Mention: Stefano. He got 2 in the-park-home-runs.

The complete series of M.A.S.K is available for pre-order from Amazon.ca. I ordered it last night. The release date is Aug 9.

Expired Office Food

I found some 3 yr old Squash Seeds in my cube today. They were still sealed in the can, so I decided to share it with everyone at CMC. What? They were still good :)
I also found some bags of microwave popcorn that had expired in March 2006. I put one bag in the microwave and the kernels still popped and they tasted fine. Shared those with everyone too.

Huge Bag of Clam Meat

Dinner today -> Clam Chowder.
I got this huge bag of large clam meat from Walmart on the weekend for only $10!

Family went to ChuShing in ChinaTown for my Grandma's Birthday dinner.

Japan beat the USA in the Women's World Cup of Soccer Finals on Sunday. It was tied 2-2 ofter extra time and Japan won 3-1 in penalty kicks.

I picked up my M12 Magic cards on Friday: 2 Booster Boxes and 1 Fat Pack. I got 2 copies of the new Jace, but I didn't get the new Gurruk or Chandra.

An ultra-healthy lunch today ;) It had 2 main ingredients: starch and sugar.
The fries are from the fry truck at Canadian Tire in Kanata. They are the best!
The Slush was a mix of Slime Lime and Orange Soda flavours.
Becky's daughter made the mini-cheese cake. It was good.
