Winterized my car today, but before picking it up; Ed, Steve, and I dropped by Kanata Noodle House for lunch.  Steve got Vermicelli, while Ed and I got chicken and shrimp pad thai.  The portion size looks smaller than before.  Maybe they made 1 big batch and split it into 2 plates?

Chocolate Chip Cookie Stuffed with Oreo Cookie

Lunch today -> Frank's #1 and Chocolate Chip Cookie Stuffed with Oreo Cookie.
Ate my Frank's #1 for lunch.  Dessert was a chocolate chip cookie stuffed with an oreo cookie.  Jes made it.  It was really good.  The oreo cookie part was still crispy too!  I might have to steal this idea and make some myself :)  I hope Marc brings these to the softball party.

Malloween

Lunch today -> Frank's #4 Rocky Balboa.
Went to Comic Book Shoppe at lunchtime and dropped by Frank's Catering for lunch.  I got there around 11:30am and the line was to the door!  I noticed alot of the people before me got the #4 Rocky Balboa.  That one has roast beef as the meat.  I had it before, but I didn't think it was that good, but I decided to try it again.

I got a #4 Rocky Balboa to eat today and a #1 Frank's Special for Wednesday.  #4 wasn't that special.  I still think #1 is way better.

Went shopping with Susanna after work and I grabbed a late dinner from Sushi House in the Hazeldean Mall.  It was 8pm and I was hoping it would be discounted but it wasn't.  Still; I got a lot of sushi for $20.

FYI: Hazeldean Mall has Malloween Friday morning from 10am-noon.  Stores are giving out candy to trick-or-treaters.  I'm expecting something good from the Target and Laura Secord stores.

When I turned on the TV at 8pm to watch Gotham, I found it was already over and the Ottawa Election news coverage was on!?!?  I totally forgot today was election day, so I didn't vote.  Doesn't matter.  It's not like it was an AKB election where it matters :)

Useless Toy News:
This Tempescope gadget is really cool.  It allows me to control the weather, or make it show the forecast of the weather, in a box.  Kind of like a mini-Cobra Weather Dominator.  But as Gordon told me, it can't do snow.  Too bad.  Depending on the KickStarter price, I might back it.

Weekend Report: John Wick

Food this weekend ->
Got some rice noodle wraps from the Chinese Grocery story on Hazeldean on Friday.  Fresh and it was still warm.  Ate that for a late lunch with some leftover KFC drumsticks.

Made cold egg white noodles with garlic chives.  The combo is pretty good, but it need meat.  It needed some sliced BBQ pork.

I was at Walmart and I found the 2013 M:tG Commander Mind Seize deck on the shelf.  They must have been restocking the shelves with stock from the returns or something.  Commander decks haven't been on the shelf for a while now, especially the Mind Seize deck.  2014 Commander decks are out Nov 7.
I also fond Transformers Rescue Bots Prime and Grimlock Potato Head set.

Useless Movie News:
I watch the new Keanu Reeves movie "John Wick".  It's actually really entertaining.  Highly recommended.  Not sure why it's rated 14+.  It's uber violent, but in a cool John Wu type way (ie cool gun fights).

Saturday night right before the Sens/NJ game, I decided to start Ottawa's goalie Lehner instead of Pittsburg's goalie Fleury.  OTT lost in OT while Fleury got a 3-0 shutout vs NSH.  Doh!  Hopefully this doesn't cost me my match-up this week vs Chuck Norris.

Made chili fries for dinner.  I really like the avocado pairing with this.  It makes it more filling and satisfying.

Funky Chili

Dinner today -> 8 Bean Chili.
I bought some ground beef on the weekend and I noticed this morning that it had expired yesterday.  (It expired so quick?!?)  Eventhough I have alot of leftover T&T food, I had to open it up and make more 8 bean chili.  The meat only smelled alittle funky, but it still tasted good when cooked.  I added some quail eggs this time.

Today was Apple Day!  At work we had apple pie, apple crisp, apple turnovers, apple cider, apple juice, and McIntosh apples.  I ate my share and more :)

Weekend Report: Won $9

Food this weekend ->
Used the leftover 8 bean chili and made Chili Fries.  McCain 5 minute shoe string fries, with re-heated chili in the middle, surrounded by chopped avocado, and sprinkled with some chopped Havarti cheese.

Useless Lottery News:
I tried out the "NHL Lotto" on Saturday.  It's $2 to play.  First you pick a team and 5 numbers.  Then when the cashier process it, a player on the team you selected shoots 3 shots on a targetted net. Each target is worth different amounts.  A goalie from a random team tries to make saves.
I played twice.  I picked Montreal and New Jersey.  I won $7 on the MTL ticket and $2 on the NJ ticket.  Now I just need to check my 5 numbers to see if I win more money :)

Got KickStarted "The Captain is Dead" in the mail.  It also came with "Scarborough Fair" and "Turbulence".  I didn't even know this shipped, until Brian told me on Thursday.  Then I got it the next day, while he still hasn't received his copy.

4 player Gaming at Brian's Friday night.  We played Sleuth, a neat little detective guessing game.

We also Desert Island and Steam Park.  Desert Island is a good cooperative game where each player must survive the desert while searching for water and flying ship pieces.  We died twice before winning in Game 3.
Steam Park is about building a 3D amusement park.  I had the early lead, but I mis-understood the rules and blew the lead.

Gaming at Jeff's Saturday night.  We played Flipping Frogs, Clack Clack Lumberjack, Wok Star, and Biblios.  The new game Wok Star is a fun cooperative game where you run a Chinese restaurant.  What's great about this game is that it doesn't feel like a 1 player game where 1 person takes control of everything.  Each person has his own role and makes the decisions on his turn.  This is enhanced with a short timed turn.

8 Bean Chili

Dinner today -> 8 Bean Chili.
I made a 8 bean chili today.  I browned some ground beef with onions and garlic.  Then added 6 bean can that had chickpeas, red kidney beans, black eye peas, romano beans, white kidney beans, and baby lima beans.  Then added a can of brown beans, a can of dark red kidney beans, a can of diced tomatoes, and some frozen corn.  Finally stirred in a pack of chili powder.  I wish I had bought some bacon,  Would have been good with chunks of bacon in it.

I finally got my KickStarted Wok Star game.  It's a fast pace co-operative boardgame, where 1 player can't control everything.  I think it'll be fun.

I dropped by Walmart at lunchtime.  Picked up some discount sugar donuts.  I was going to get some McDoubles but the line was too long at McDonalds, so I decided to dropped by Rideau Restaurant and get some beef chow mein instead.

Picked up the Lego Death Star Trooper set and a $5 frog flipping game at Walmart.  I don't think the weapons for the Imperial Guards are right.  They look like light sabres instead of pikes.

Went to Montreal Saturday to celebrate my uncle's birthday.  We went to Chinatown and feasted.
Started with fish maw soup.  There was lots of fish maw, squid cubes, real crab meat, and shrimp chunks.  This was a high quality soup.

Then we had seafood rolls.  It was OK.  The crispy wrap was abit greasy but alot of seafood filling.  Goes well with mayo.

Since Gavin was in town, Ben and I met up with him and played Magic and boardgames.  We played Power Grid, but we screwed up the buying power plants rules at the 3rd phase.  Gavin had only played once, and Ben and I had never played.

We also played Robinson Crusoe.  Co-operative game but it felt like a 1 player game.  We just did what Gavin suggested to do.  I didn't see how we could lose.  Might need to try this game again, but as of right now, I'm not a fan.

Went back to Farmboy and got more pulled pork and discount buns.  Today's buns were egg and onion buns.  I also got some red onion, cheddar cheese, and broccoli.  Simple cheap lunch.

Useless Medical News:
I bought this "Thera Pearl Pal" a while ago and kept in my desk drawer.  I used it today on my back (it felt better than yesterday but still ached).  I heated it up in the microwave for 15 seconds, and put it on my back.  This little thing is awesome!  The heat felt good.  I kept reheating it and used it all day.  I went and bought the bigger version after work.

Woke up with a sore back today.  Don't know what I did?  It was aching all day.  Maybe it's related to the rainy weather today?  I'm starting to feel it in my bones?

Got some discount buns and fresh pulled pork from FarmBoy at lunch time.  Made some mini-pulled pork sandwiches and devoured them.

Dinner today -> Beef Brisket Rice.
I cooked rice with a small bowl of beef brisket and daikon from T&T.  Cooked it all in the rice cooker.  It came out good :)  Just need to top it with a bit of oyster sauce.

Hockey starts today.  Saw this tweet by the LA Kings, but I'm not sure if it is real or photoshopped?  The Kings are rubbing-in the 3-0 blown lead by the SJ Sharks?  They happen to be playing each other in the LA home opener too.
