3 Cakes

Lunch today -> Fish & Chips.
Went to CMC Montreal today for work.  Got caught in Ottawa traffic going there and coming back.  Took me an hour to get across Ottawa each time.  Met my Montreal team and we went out for lunch at La Cage aux Sports.  I got the fish & chips.  It was very good.  Big piece of fish on a bed of fries.  The guys told me the menu has been revamped and improved.

Useless Food News:
On the way back to Ottawa, I hit the cake bakery off the Sources exit: Les Delices Lafrenaie.  I picked up a few cakes.  I got a frozen Carrot Cake for Dave.

I also got a fresh Nutella Crepes cake for myself and a few people.

Cindy's Pad Thai

Lunch today -> Cheese, Pepperettes, and Bagette.
Went to Loblaws at lunchtime.  I got 50% off cheese and pepperettes platter.  I got a bagette to eat with it.  I ate maybe 1/3 of it and then dumped rest to my co-workers.

Dinner today -> Ribs and Wedges.
Susanna and I went grocery shopping tonight.  I picked up this half-rack of ribs and wedges for $8!  When did SuperStore start having this good deal?

Cindy sent me a picture of the pad thai she made from a cooking class.  She sent me the recipe too :).  It looks really good and I want to give it a try sometime.

What If? Puzzle #10

Dinner today -> Shrimp and Sausage Rice.
Quick stirfry of shrimp for dinner.  Just oil, onion powder, ginger powder, and oyster sauce.

Useless Toy News:
Picked up this "What If?" puzzle at Play Value Toys on Saturday.  The cover of the box shows the dream version of the scenario.  The puzzle, when put together, shows what actually happened in the scenario.  This makes the puzzle hard as there is no reference picture to build towards.

Started building it tonight.  It took me over an hour to find all the edge pieces.  After putting together what I could, I apparently missed a few edge pieces.  Still haven't found the missing edge pieces in the regular pieces.  A 1000 pieces is alot!

Weekend Report -> Toe Nail Falls Off

Hung out with Julie on Saturday.  We walked around alot shopping, getting food, and then watched some Psych episodes.  When I got home and unwrapped my bandage on my toe, I found that my big toe nail fell off!  I guess all the walking finally loosened it off.  It wasn't bleeding or anything, and a new nail was forming.

Food this weekend ->
I tried out some Falafels from Farmboy.

I heated it up as per the instructions and dipped it in the Tahini dip.  It was OK, but I probably won't buy it again.  Are Falafels supposed to soft or crispy?  These were soft, and as I was eating them, I was thinking that these would be good if they were deep fried and crunchy.

Went to Swiss Pastries at Carlingwood Mall Saturday night.  I got a strawberry whip cake to split with Julie and Roger for dessert.  Usually this cake is very good, but this one wasn't.  The cake was dry with grainy bits in it.  I was really disappointed with it.

We played 2 more months of Pandemic Legacy on Friday night with Brian, Gordon, and Ben.  We won but we lost a powerful character.  This game is great with so many unknowns happening!

Fire Bar Amiibo

Dinner today -> Hot Chicken Soup.
Made a can of Cream of Chicken soup for dinner.  I then sliced up some stale bagette and drowned it in the soup.  It was not bad, but I burned my tongue on the first bite.

Useless Toy News:
Picked up the Fire Bar Amiibo display at Toys R Us.  It's pretty neat.  There is also a new Donkey Kong construction grid display too.  I might pick that up if it goes on sale.

I also got the new Pie Face Showdown! from Walmart.  It's $5 cheaper than Toys R Us.

I opened it up and put it together.  It looks fun, but the pie throwing arm is weak compared to the original.  Hasbro should have used a stronger spring mechanism.  Also if both players are evenly matched, rapid firing the buttons will be a stalemate for a long time.  The original might be a more faster and more fun game.

Brunch Candy Corn

Dinner today -> Meat.
I went out at lunch time to Toys R Us to check for new Transformers.  Nothing new, but there were abunch of new Amiibo figures I may want at the next Buy 2 get 1 free sale. 
On the way back I hit Loblaws for some lunch.  I didn't find anything I wanted to eat at lunch, but I did find a couple steaks for 50% off and 4 porkchops for 50% off.  I bought both packs of meat for $6 :)  I cooked all the meat tonight and just ate a couple porkchops for dinner.

Snack today -> Brunch Candy Corn.
Tried out the brunch flavoured candy corn I got from Target.  I only at 6 pieces and it was too much sugar for me.

The "french toast & maple syrup" was good.  It tastes like it.
The "waffles & strawberry" didn't taste good.  It tasted like waxy strawberries.
The "chocolate chip & pancakes" didn't taste good either.  It tasted mostly like chocolate with a slight hint of pancake batter.

Misc Mystery Meat

Lunch today -> Pita Wraps.
I bought some discount misc end pieces cold cuts from Farmboy on the weekend and some large pitas.  I made some simple wraps today by rolling the meat in the pitas.  I got alot of various meats in these two $2 trays of end piece meats.  One was spicy, and one tray had 3 kinds of smoked ham.  Mystery meat is good :)

Dinner today -> Steak and Mushrooms.
I defrosted some blade steaks yesterday.  I patted them dry and pan fried them with salt and pepper.  I then sliced up some discount king oyster mushrooms (50% off at Loblaws) and steam fried them in the steak drippings, abit of water, some butter, and abit of milk.  The mushrooms were awesome.  each piece was crunchy and chewy, and had the flavour of mushroom soup.  I soaked up the sauce/drippings with some bagette.

Useless Gaming News:
Got a KickStarter game in the mail today.  It was Ghosts Love Candy.  This KickStarter went bankrupt, but Steve Jackson Games bought it and also said that they would take the hit and deliver this game to all the backers too!  Awesome!  I also got some promo cards for this game and for Munchkin in the box too!
