Dinner today -> Beef Stomach Congee.
Made a small batch of plain congee flavoured with a bit of salt and dashi.  Finished it by adding a tray of beef stomach I bought from T&T yesterday.  Tasty and filling meal.

Had to run an errand to Gordon's house.  Made a trip to T&T afterwards for some cheap eats.  Got some female capelin and sausage rolls.  I was hoping for some protuguese tarts but there were none left.

I watched the live stream of Akimoto Sayaka's graduation from AKB48 this morning.  It was pretty good.  There was only 1 encore and it felt like it ended abruptly compared to Itano's graduation yesterday.

Lunch today -> Frank's Special
Vacation day today, so after watching an AKB concert and running some errands in the morning I picked up some sandwiches from Frank's Catering for myself, my parents, and some co-workers who wanted to try it.  I got 6 #1 Frank's Specials.

Frank's #1 gave me Hiccups.

I ate too fast on the 1st bite and got the hiccups.  LOL.  Also, there was so much meat in the sandwich that I took some out of half the sandwich to make another full sandwich.

Took vacation to watch the live stream of AKB48's Itano Tomomi's graduation stage from the AKB Theatre.  The new Team K Waiting Stage setlist is pretty good.

The concert was just over 3hrs long a double encore.  Mariko called in during the 1st encore.  Then in the 2nd encore, Kasai Tomomi appeared!!  TomoTomo combo!

Useless Softball News:
We had a rainout for our double-header softball game tonight against Chipworks.  But the trip to the diamond wasn't wasted.  Brannon brought our new team shirts, fresh off the press.  The CMC Strike Fighters logo and colours is the same, but the shirt material has been upgraded to moisture wicking material that breathes.

Weekend Report: Pre-Birthday Buffet Lunch

Food this weekend ->
Made some Butter Chicken with drum sticks.

We celebrated by Dad's birthday early this weekend, because Ben is away the long weekend and I have a softball tournament the weekend after.  We went to Emerald Buffet for lunch.
I got 3 plates of mostly the same food: mussels, chicken feet, money bags, fried wonton, mini-BBQ pork pastry, stomach, and shumai.  The mussels were small, so I got alot of it.  The mini-BBQ pork pastries were really good.  The money bags and chicken feet were good too.

I finished with a small bowl of congee with mussels, stomach, and fried wonton.  The congee filled up the gaps in my stomach :)

Useless Gaming News:
Some 6 player gaming at Brian's house.
Started with 4-player Alien Frontiers, but we didn't finish it.  It seems like a very neat game that uses the dice very uniquely.  I'd like to playing it again.

Moved on to 6-player Fortune and Glory.  It's a Flying Frog game, so it's expected to be a good game, but super long.  Especially when spend alot of time going over rules and jumping into an Advance Cooperative game.  We should have played what the instructions suggested: a Beginner Competitive game, but Brian doesn't like "vs mode" and pouts.

This weekend at the 4 day AKB48 Tokyo Done Concerts; Akimoto Sayaka and Itano Tomomi had their graduation ceremonies.
Sayaka had a sea of green pen lights when she performed her graduation song.

Didn't know what to make for dinner, so I just threw together some stuff in the fridge into a pot: mini red potatoes, baby carrots, red onion, a couple eggs, and a frozen steak.  *Poof* instant stew.

Made a spinach salad with baby spinach, red onion, cucumber, and bacon ceasar dressing.  Topped it with sliced steak and a fried egg.

Almost 2 Home Runs

Useless Softball News:
CMC Strike Fighters defeated Optilian 24-9 tonight.  We had a slow start and gave up 6 runs in the 1st inning, but then our offence kicked in.
In my first game back after missing 2 weeks, I hit 3-for-4, with 2 Singles, and a Double.  I also hit 2 balls to the center field fence.  They were so close to home runs.  My only non-hit at-bat was because I thought I hit a home run so I slowed down running the bases, except it wasn't a home run and they got me going to 3rd.
Somehow this season I've evolved from "opposite field" hitter to "power" hitter?

Anyone know where I can buy/order the AKB48 Curry?  I requested it from J-List and HLJ, but both won't carry it.

Chinese Halloween

Today through Wednesday is Chinese Halloween.  My mom says to not to stay out late because the gates to the underworld are open and the spirits are roaming around.

Went to Frank's Catering and picked up some subs.
I got the #1 Frank's Special on a white bun.  It's got a bit of spice and lots of meat.  A good sauce on it too.

Weekend Report: Baby Rabbit, Where Art Thou?

I was mowing the lawn in the backyard on Friday and ran over a tiny baby rabbit (I ran it over with the tire not the blades).  The rabbit was the size of my palm.  It must have been a new born as the eyes were still closed.  It was crawling in circles slowly after I stunned it.

I texted Marc if he wanted the rabbit, but he didn't.  I came back outside 2hrs later and the baby rabbit was gone!  I hope the mom saved it and not a bird had it for lunch.

Food this weekend ->
I threw this Garlic Butter Mussel Rice together late Friday night.  Frozen mussels from Walmart and some instant microwave rice.

I steamed some rice with some chicken thighs in it.  After it was cooked, I took the chicken out and cubed up the meat and put in some butter chicken sauce.  It was really good, since the rice was infused with the chicken juices and the butter chicken added the extra punch.

Went to Arum Dolsot Cafe for Korean Dinner with Gordon, Judy, and Ben.  We got a bunch of Korean dishes to share.

What I was there for was for the bibimbap dish.

The bowl roasts the rice and keeps the food hot after you mix it all together to eat.  Gordon, Judy, and I got this dish.  This article describes the bibimbap really well.

BBQ at my parents house.  We made BBQ chicken, short ribs in Korean BBQ sauce, and short ribs in Sensations BBQ sauce.  We wrapped some rib meat in leaf lettuce and cucumber sticks.

Ben bought Butter Tarts from Frank's Catering for dessert.  Gordon and Judy recommended the place to us for subs and butter tarts.  Ben got Lemon, Raspberry, and Maple Walnut flavours.  I like the maple walnut the best.

Before eating Korean food.  Ben, Gordon, and I played some multiplayer Magic.  We haven't played Magic in awhile.  I lost every game.  I kind of expected it, as my decks are always a threat.

Useless Transformers News:
I bought 3 boxes of Transformers Optimum cards off eBay and got them on Friday. 
The 1st box had no autographs and 2 sketches, and they were only OK sketches
The 2nd box had no autographs, 1 sketch, 1 comic card, and 1 relic.  The relic was a good one, because the material and some stitching rather than just plain cloth.
The 3rd box had 1 sketch and only 1 autograph, BUT the autograph was the super rare Leonard Nimoy!!!  Whoo hoo!  I was really disappointed with these boxes until I pulled the Nimoy.

Vacation Friday

Work deadlines got moved so I took staycation Friday and Monday, so you won't see me at my desk.

Dinner today -> Eggo Waffle Burgers Part II
Made some more Eggo Waffle Burgers today.  Didn't add the egg or buy any bacon.  Save that for next time.  I found that it's way easier to eat if you cut it in half.

Dinner today -> Eggo Waffle Burgers
Made some messy Eggo Waffle Burger.  So yummy!!!  I picked up a box of Eggo Waffles which are on sale at Walmart for $2 this week.
1 Eggo Waffle on the bottom.  Topped this Eggo with some smooth peanut butter.  Put a beef patty on it.  Then topped the patty with caramelized red onions.  Poured some Aunt Jemima syrup on top of the patty and onions.  Then added abit of leaf lettuce for colour.  For the top Eggo Waffle, I poured some syrup on it and let it soak in abit.  Then flipped it on top of the lettuce.
It's messy to eat but it was really good.  The savoury burger mixed with the sweet Eggo was a good mix.

3 things to consider for next time:
1) use a flatter patty or press the patty more flat.  The burger is almost too big to take a bite.
2) add a small fried egg on top of the patty.
3) add bacon.

Lunch today -> Leftover Braised Chicken.
Had some leftover braised chicken for lunch.  It tastes even better today because the rice soaked in all the spicy sauce/soup.

Anthony let me know that the "caviar of chocolate milk" was on sale at Sobey's for $2 this week.  I picked up a few cartons :)

BTW: I forgot to mention/warn everyone that the Compliment's 4L Lemonade for $3 at Sobey's is totally disgusting.  I don't have a picture of it because I dumped it already.  It tastes like sore throat medicine lemon drops that someone pre-sucked for you to drink. 

Useless Softball News:
I missed another game this week because of work deadlines.  The Strike Fighters played Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in a double header tonight.  We won both games 13-12 and 14-11.  I think we are 1st in our division.
Marc hit 3-for-3 in both games.

Ramen Soup Base

Dinner today -> Braised Chicken.
I made some Braised Chicken today Running Man style.  I watched episode 36 recently and I made my braised chicken almost the same way they did it (I didn't add red pepper paste and used hot chili powder instead.  I also added the Soy Sauce and garlic that they forgot to buy.).
I tasted the soup and it need something.  So I added the same secret ingredient as on the show: Ramen Soup Base powder.  BOOM!  It was like magic and it tasted better.

Weekend Report: T&T Night Market

Food this weekend ->
I went to the T&T Night Market on Friday night with Ben and meet Gordon and Judy there.  I went again on Saturday night with Susanna.  There was alot of food stalls and people.
Ben waited 30mins for some lamb sticks.  They were made the traditional way over coals.  They tasted pretty good.

There was also a seafood grill tent with Lobster, mussels, scallops, and whelks.

I got some Whelks.  They were good, but it needed garlic butter.

I also got some popcorn chicken and deep fried squid tubes.

Ben got some takoyaki, but it wasn't good.  It was also $5 for 6!  (No pic, doesn't deserve one.)
Susanna got a "Hokkaido style" squid on a stick. It was good.  It was $10 on Fri, but $8 on Sat.  Then at 11pm Sat, they were $5.

The big hit of the festival was the Hong Kong style Smelly Tofu.

It smelled like sewer mixed with smelly socks mixed with egg fart.  I think the smell stuck to my hair or shirt.  I kept smelling it on the walk back to the car. 
The line up for this smelly tofu was the longest.  I think the line moved slower than the lamb sticks.  I wanted to try it, but I didn't have a patience to wait.
The older Chinese ladies in line were saying to each other, "The smellier the better!" and "This is the best!".
