Cinnamon Twists

Lunch today -> Ritz, Cheese, and Salametti.
Made a fancy lunch today.  I got some Ritz crackers, 4 kinds of cheese cubes (marble, cheddar, jalapeno, and swiss), and some salametti.  The cheese and salametti was 50% off at Loblaws :)

Dinner today -> Broccoli & Steak and Tofu Curd Soup
Also from Loblaws for 50% off was sliced steak.  Pan cooked it and added some broccoli and a sauce.  Would have been really good over rice, but I just this with hamburger buns.

I also prepared some tofu curd soup.  This batch I made with chicken broth, dashi, shitake mushrooms, bailing mushrooms, dried tofu curds, quail eggs, and konnyaku noodle knots.  It tasted good today, but it will be even better tomorrow.

Snack today -> Cinnamon Twists
Found a new item at Sobey's: Cinnamon Twists.  They taste like my monkey bread but they don't fall apart easily like monkey bread.  Kind of like a twisted up cinnamon bun covered with chewy caramel and sprinkled with walnuts.  Not bad, but could be better; and looks better than it tastes.  Probably won't get it again.

I Ate the Whole Thing

Lunch today -> Burger and Fries.
Went to Food Trucks today.  Just R&R BBQ was there today.  I got the beef burger and fries combo.  The burger was very good, as was the fries.  This truck is one of the better ones out there.

Snack today -> Strawberry Shortcake.
One of our co-ops was leaving soon, so we had a little cake for him.  Good cake.  Very fresh.  I don't know where it was bought from.

Dinner today -> Tex-Mex Lasagna.
Working really late today and I dropped by Loblaws afterwards.  I got a Tex-Mex Lasagna to try out.

It was pretty good.  I cut it into bite-sized cubes to eat.

I probably would have only eaten half if I wasn't so lazy to get up and get a glass of milk.  Since I didn't, I just chowed it all down.

Busy with work this week and stayed there til about 8pm.  Missed softball because of that.

Also went to Miraj at lunchtime.  Picked up some deck boxes, sleeves, and a set of Commander 2017.  Apparently the orange and red boxes are worth the most.

Dinner today -> KFC.
Got a bucket of KFC, fries and gravy to eat while watching the season finale of Game of Thrones today.  The chicken was good.  The episode... I found it abit slow and was lacking something, not sure what but something.  The episode was still good though.  The Winterfell scene :)

Weekend Report -> Happy Birthday Dad!!!

Food this weekend ->
Made cold egg white noodles with steak on Friday.  It was just egg white noodles mixed with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and cooked oil.  Sliced up some leftover steak and mixed it all together.

Made tofu curd soup on Saturday.  I made it with dried tofu curds, dashi, shitake mushrooms, bailing mushrooms, and low-salt chicken broth.  The bailing mushrooms have a similar look and texture as abalone but with a mushroom taste.

It was very tasty.  Gave most of it to my grandparents.

Sunday, went to Chinese buffet on Merivale for my dad's birthday.  The food has lower quality everytime we go there.  I usually get some sushi there, but the sushi rice was super mushy (and I'm pretty sure it wasn't sushi rice.).

Useless Garden News:
Picked all my finger eggplants and gave them to my grandparents.  I will be getting a 2nd harvest of finger eggplants if my cherry tomato plant doesn't block them out.

Ben and Susanna told me a chipmunk was in my cherry tomato plant.  That must be the animal that is eating my tomatoes and strawberries.  I thought it was a racoon.

Instant Hotpot was Inedible

Lunch today -> Triple Decker Grill Cheeese.
Peter and I went to food trucks today.  Only "Dash" was there.  We each got a "Triple Decker Grill Cheese".  It has smoked pulled pork in 1 layer and kimchi with crispy garlic in the 2 layer.  It also came with homemade hickory sticks.

The grill cheese was really good!  I usually don't like kimchi, but it works in this sandwich.  Very filling meal.  I'd probably get it again.  The price was $12.

Dinner today -> Instant Hotpot.
I got this instant hotpot meal from T&T on sale a few weeks ago.

I asked my parents to translate the instructions for me.  First you put the sauce pack, noodles, and vegetable packs in to the smaller top container.  Then add hot water to the line.  Then put the white heating pack into the bigger container and add cold water to cover it.  The cold water cause a reaction and boils really fast and hot.

Cover for 8 minutes.  Then remove and stir.

It looks really good, but it was so spicy I couldn't eat it.  It's got chinese pepper corn and peppers in it.  It numbs the lips and doesn't taste that great.  Too bad it looks so good and really cool to make, but was inedible.  If I get this again on a big discount, I wouldn't add the sauce pack or herbs.  I'd just add a ramen flavour pack for the soup base.

Up-Side-Down Ghost Shrimp

Dinner today -> Pork Loin.
Defrosted a garlic and herb pork loin last night.  I slice it into medallions and pan cooked them.  I picked 1 finger egg plant and fried it in the drippings.  I didn't have any greens or rice handy to add to the meal, so I added Pink Lady apple slices.

Useless Aquarium News:
I added a feeding ring to my fish tank a couple months ago, and now my ghost shrimp have learned to go the hang up-side-down on it and wait to be feed.  The pic is abit blurry but 4 shrimp are in it (3 smaller males and 1 female).
