Second Birthday Cake

Snack today -> Second Birthday Cake.
We had a second birthday cake today for Becky (like a Hobbit's second breakfast).  The cake was a Milky Way cake from Your Independent Grocer.  It was really good.  Super fresh and moist chocolate cake with whip cream in the middle.

Dinner today -> Congee and Sushi.
Susanna and I went to T&T for groceries tonight, but we also got dinner.  I got some discount pork congee and fried dough.  Then we went to Bayshore and we got BOGO sushi.

Useless Softball News:
Second game in 2 nights for the Strike Fighters, and it was at 9:15pm!  We played the 1st place team in our division.  It was a close game but we beat them 23-20.  They are a new team and these guys are cocky and think they know everything, arguing every call that doesn't go their way (ie catching a flyball outside of the park and wanting the out.  Not in foul territory, but outside of the park area.).  In the last inning they were losing and they resorted to "tomahawk chopping" all the high pitches to get slow and high bouncing singles.  It was very cheap and unsportsman-like.  This might be why they have such a good record.  I tried to signal to Gary to pitch low and inside, but he didn't understand why I wanted those pitches and kept pitching high.  We got them in the end, so it was OK.
I hit 2-for-4 with 2 singles.

BTW: Jeno, you should play with us more.  We only have 4 games left and you need to get your "number of games" count higher for the playoffs :).

Lunch today -> Tostitos with Dipetizer.
For lunch I tried out the Spicy Queso dipetizer.  I got it awhile ago from Ogdensburg, but never got around to eating it.  It's good and it's got a good spice kick to it.  The cheese dip being warm makes it even better.  I hope they start selling this in Canada.

Useless Garden News:
My finger eggplants are coming out nicely.  I picked one today.  It's long like a finger.  Not sure how I'll eat this yet.  I think I will slice it in half, season it with salt and pepper and grill it.

Useless Softball News:
Strike Fighters were home against Big Hitties tonight.  It was a defensive game.  We were tied 5-5 going into the bottom of the 6th inning.  That's when we broke out scoring 5 runs and finished them off 10-7.
I hit 1-for-3 with 2 ground outs and a single.

Long Weekend Report -> Chicken Soup

Food this weekend ->
Picked up a couple King Fish meals from Nu Caribbean on Friday.  Dropped one off at my parent's and I ate the other.  The piece of fish wasn't as big and as thick as the last time, but I got 2 pieces in each meal instead!  The meal was very good.  Need to try the jerk chicken or curry goat next.

Bought 12 chicken backs/ribs from Farmboy for $2!  Made a simple soup out of it.  Just water, dashi, salt, 2 onions, and white pepper.

The soup was very tasty and I enjoyed sucking all meat off the bones while watching some Running Man episodes.

Picked up some steaks at Sobey's after gaming at Brian's on Saturday night.  Pan cooked them and ate them with some garlic bread with cheese.  Added some grape tomatoes and some fresh cherry tomatoes from my garden.

Useless Gaming News:
4 Player gaming at Brian's on Saturday.  We played Kiwetin, Overseers, and TIME Stories.  Overseers is a pretty good card game where you try and secretly score the best cards through drafting.  The random element is the character card each player becomes every round, that gives a different bonus/ability.

For TIME Stories we played the "Under the Mask" expansion.  This one has a unique way of gaining knowledge, not found in the other games.  We didn't finish after 2 tries, but should finish it next time.  Brian took a hissy-fit when we 3 agreed against him that gaining the grey token was bad to get.  The option was "If you successfully steal, gain item x, but if you fail, gain the grey token".  That pretty much says the grey token marks you as a wanted thief.  After that, Brian tried to kill his character off and started playing a game on his laptop.  I asked him if we were still playing because I wasn't taking his crap and was ready to leave.

Lunch today -> Jerk Ribs.
Went to Nu Carribean today for a very late lunch.  I ordered the limited time jerk ribs (not in the menu, but they have a poster of it in the window).  They were really good covered in a secret rum jerk sauce.  Meat was fall off the bone, juicy and tender.  The meal also included rice and beans, veggies, and plantains.  The box was packed full!  Very filling meal with a full rack for $18.  I was so full, I didn't eat dinner.

Friday is Fish Friday at Nu Carribean, and I asked which type of fish they were getting in (King Fish or Red Snapper).  They told me it was King Fish, but they were only getting 5 pieces.  So I pre-ordered a fish meal for Friday.

Got my Kickstarter copy of Kiwetin today.  Didn't get around to opening it yet.  I opened up Roll Player, read the rules, and sleeved the cards today instead.  Might be playing Roll Player for gaming lunch tomorrow.

Went out at lunch time to Basics and found some nice big steaks for $8!  Picked up a couple and made 1 for dinner.  Pan cooked with a side of broccoli and grape tomatoes.

Found the new Windblade, Misfire, and Twin Twist at Toys R Us today.  Forgot to use the Buy-2-Get-1-Free coupon from the Toys R Us website.  I'll have to go back another day to get the deal on these.  No Octane or Blitzwing present.

James made an order to Boardgame Bliss last Thursday because they had Roll Player in stock.  We've been waiting a long time for this game to be restocked.  We both got a copy and I added a few small games to help boost us for free shipping.  I got Roll Player, Pairs (Goblin version), Hey That's My Fish!, and Red7.  Need to go to Miraj to get some card sleeves now.

Ribs from the Cafeteria

Lunch today -> Ribs.
Been really busy with work the past few days preparing and being audited.  When the group broke for lunch at the cafeteria, I was surprised to find that they had ribs!  I got a half rack (5 bones) with fries and slaw for $8.65.  Good price!.  The ribs were meaty, moist, and not bad.  I'm pretty sure it was Kraft rib sauce on it.  If it was caramelized it would have been better.

Picked these fresh cherry tomatoes from my garden today.  My cherry tomato plant is really flourishing and producing alot of ripe cherry tomatoes every other day.  The cherry tomatoes are really sweet compared to the ones I buy from the store.

Strike Fighters played the Bad News Beers tonight.  We were losing pretty badly 15-3, but in the last inning we made a small comeback and finished with a closer loss of 15-11.
