5 Packs of Mushrooms

Snack today -> Peter's Cookies.
Peter made 2 batches of cookies for a taste test at work.  He made a zesty butterscotch cookie and a butterscotch toffee cookie.  Even with my lack of taste right now, they were both very good, but I voted for the zesty butterscotch.  I prefer the lemon flavour in it.

Dinner today -> Lots of Mushrooms.
Went to Loblaws at lunchtime today.  I picked up a pile of 50% discount mushrooms and meat.  I got 3 packs of white mushrooms, 2 packs of portobello mushrooms, a couple honey garlic sausages, and a 5 pack of pork schnitzel.

I crammed all 5 packs of mushrooms into a pan with olive oil, salt, pepper, and oyster sauce.  When almost done I added some potato starch to make a thicker sauce.

Boiled and slice the sausages, and pan fried the pork schnitzel.  Topped both with a some of the mushroom sauce.  I'll save some of the mushroom sauce for Friday's meal.

Useless TV News:
Went to Walmart at lunchtime too.  I picked up some recommended Tylenol Complete to help with my cold.  Steve says it's better than Advil Cold and Flu.  I'll see about that.  I also saw the Martial Law box set!!!  I grabbed it right away.  Great show.

Snack today -> Jalapeno Chips.
I'm still on cold medicine and using a nasal spray to clear my nose.  The combination of these medicines are causing me to not taste anything, so when I was eating some Jalapeno chips, I couldn't even taste the heat.

Useless gaming News:
3-Player after work gaming today.  We played Small World today.  It was pretty fun.  I think Evan and James took the early lead, but I was able to get some good points in the later rounds.

When we did final scoring, James and I tied with 103 points and Evan won with 106 points.  But while we were cleaning up, I found 10 more points under my reference sheet!  I don't know if I counted those or not, so I could have won, but it was too late as everything was already mixed up :(

Processing My Document?

Eleanor visited Ottawa today.  I speak with her on the phone alot but it's been a few years since I've seen her.  I didn't know she was on vacation this week and after chatting with her for abit, I was wonder who is processing and releasing my document?

Didn't know what to make for dinner so I just made a bag of chicken ramen.  While cooking I was looking through the freezer and decided to added some mix frozen vegetables and some frozen mussels.

A few games I picked up last week: Colt Express "Marshal & Prisoners" (latest expansion), Deception (a Werewolf/Mysterium type game but with a twist.  Check out Dice Tower review), Three Cheers for Master (recommended by a coop student at work), and Why First (object is to finish in 2nd place each round to score points, and the final winner is the person in 2nd place).

Steam Bun Festival

Lunch today -> Smoked Salmon on Bagels.
Went home for lunch today.  I toasted some bagels and put cream cheese on it.  Then I topped it off with a slice of smoke salmon.  Simple tasty lunch.

Useless Food News:
Ben, Susanna, and I went to T&T on Sunday.  They are having a "Steam Bun Festival": 8 buns for $10.

We split 8 buns together.  I got a panda, a pig, and a beancurd & bamboo bun.  The beancurd & bamboo one is good.  I haven't eaten the sweet ones yet, but I think the panda one will be very good.

Weekend Report -> Buffet Congee

Food this weekend ->
Went to the Chinese buffet on Merivale with family on Sunday.  I wasn't very hungry.  I only ate 3 plates.  I think I caught a slight cold Saturday.  I had a runny nose and was sneezing alot.  Loaded up the first plate with abit of everything.

For my second plate, I created my congee medley.  I put mussels, stomach, green beans, scramble eggs, and fish into it.  I should have made another bowl.  It was very good.

Third plate was mainly mushrooms and green beans.  One of the stomach pieces wasn't cooked soft and was rough and crunchy.  I had to spit it out.

Veal

Dinner today -> Veal
Another late night at work.  So I hit Loblaws again for discount food.  Tonight I found 50% of veal and some 50% off cold cuts.

I stir fried the veal with broccoli and cauliflower.  It was not bad.  Over cooked the veal abit because I put the vegetables in too late.

Useless Food News:
Norm picked me up a package of the super spicy ramen that he gave me to try before.  It's got a very good flavour, but I succumbed to the heat after eating half of it.  Next time I make it, I'll try to eat the whole thing before drinking milk.

TMNT Pizza Combo

Lunch and Dinner today -> Pizza.
Ordered pizza from Pizza Pizza.  I ordered from them because I wanted the Ninja Turtles Combo.  It's 2 X-Large pepperoni for $19.98.  It also included a "coupon" for $10 off TMNT items at Toys R Us.  I thought it was a $10 gift card at TRU.  I should have read the small print.  Anyways, the deal wasn't worth it, but I was given 2 of the coupons.  Also, since I ordered online, I also got a 2-for-1 movie pass at Cineplex.  Maybe I'll go see Kong... or Power Rangers? :)

I dropped one of the pizzas at my parent's house and ate most of the other for lunch and dinner.

Useless Gaming News:
Played 4-player boardgames tonight after work (after work for the others, just a 1.5hr break for me).  We played the KickStarter Dresden Files Cooperative game that James backed.  I've never read the books or watched the TV show, but the game is pretty good.  Lot of cooperation needed and you can't show your hand to other players.  The object is to solve more case files than there foes remaining on the board.  Along the way there obstacles that hinder you.  Also there are is no additional card drawing unless a card tells you to, which is not very common.
This was good because we played by the rules.  If I imagine how this game will be played with Brian, Ben, Gordon and I:
- if we play by the rules, it might be OK and Brian might not throw a fit if plays don't go his way.
- if we play with open hands or telling each other what cards we have, it turns into a 1-player game controlled game (aka Pandemic with Brian's open hand rule).
