Lunch today -> Honey Tangerine and Chinese Sausage Buns.
Honey tangerines are on sale at Farmboy and Basics.  I peeled the skin in 1 long piece.  I wonder if that is lucky?  The tangerine was sweet, but the seeds in it are huge.

A new Transformers: Fall of Cybertron toy was revealed at Toy Fair 2013 and is coming out in the fall.  It's Metroplex!  He is huge!  Check out the video and pics here!

Weekend Report: Year of the Snake

Food this weekend ->
I had snowstorm Friday off.  I did some shopping at Walmart and Super Store then picked up Pho #15XL from KNH on the way home.  It's been awhile since I had it and I was so stuffed when I finished it :)

I also picked up a 1 lb female lobster for a late dinner (on sale at Super Store til Thurs).  I just boiled it in garlic salt water.  Not much lobster roe in this one.
I was going to make red curry with lobster, but I'll do it later this week.

For Chinese New Year on Saturday, I prepared 38 stuffed mussels (truly stuffed, not pre-cooked and topped with stuff).  I used a knife to slide between the shells and slice the white muscle that keeps the shell shut.  Then I stuffed them with cheese and sausage while it was alive!

Re-closed the shell and wrapped it shut using some wire.  Normally BBQed, but I baked them at 450F for 9 mins.  It was alot of work  but I think they were really good.  Might do this again, but only with large mussels.

My mom made and ordered Chinese New Year dishes on Saturday.  The tofu soup with abolone is the best dish.

Picked up the New Bot Shot Dragon Track playset at Centrum Walmart.  Also got my missing #41 Kre-O pack.

Useless Gaming Info:
Gavin was in town this weekend, so we got together for a couple hours and played 3-player Magic.  I upgraded my millstone deck to use.  I pulled off a Mind Grind for 8 and left Gavin with 4 cards in his deck.  Gavin killed me with Earthquake, and it was down to Ben and himself.  Nothing happened until the last turn where Ben was at 1 life, Gavin at 15 and Gavin only had 1 card left to draw.  The last card he drew was Burning Wish and wished for Fireball and killed Ben.  Unbelievable. (BTW, I would have won the game if I Mind Grinded for 9)

Instant Pad Thai

Snow storm coming on Friday, but I took it off as vacation for pre-Chinese New Year celebrations.  I'm planning on hitting up SuperStore in the morning for some Lobster and Mussels.  Might make some Red Curry with Lobster and some Mussels stuffed with Cheese and Sausage.  My mouth is watering just writing about it :)

The cashier only charged me 1 dollar.  I didn't know why until today.  It was expired :(  But I still ate it.  I use the "If it doesn't kill me, it makes me stronger." rule.  It tasted pretty good, but there were no shrimps in it.  The picture was only a suggested serving (stupid small print).

Dinner today -> Fried Rice with Egg, Pork, and Shrimp.
I was meeting Susanna at my parent's house to go to T&T, so I ate at home.  My parents made fried rice with egg, pork, and shrimp.  It was good.  It had lots of toasted bits along the bottom too.

Lunch today -> Pepperoni Pizza.
Grabbed a Hot-n-Ready Pepperoni Pizza from Little Caesar's.  I didn't want to wait for a Canadian to be cooked, but I should have.  It's only a couple dollars difference but you get way more toppings than the few slices of pepperoni on this disappointing pizza.

Useless Food News:
I saw this pic of a new flavoured gum: Italian Meatball flavour!  I wouldn't mind trying it.  If anyone finds it, let me know.  I'm guessing Sugar Mountain would be my best chance at finding this.

Overflowing Pomelo

Lunch today -> KNH
Went to Kanata Noodle House for lunch.  I got the Chicken and Shrimp Pad Thai.  The plate was huge it was very good.  I had to add alot of hot sauce to make it spicy.  I was satisfied when I hit 1/2 way, but it was too good to stop :)  The only bad point was that the 6 shrimp were really tiny.

Steve and Ed both got the vermicelli with shrimp, beef, and chicken.  Ed added alot spice and was sweating.  He also says it's not as filling as the soup.

I was still full from lunch and didn't feel like cooking dinner.  I just peeled and ate 1/2 a Pomelo.

I got a package in the mail.  My 2nd set of Kasai CDs (just because I support her), No Sleeves CD, and AKB48 Team K Stage K4 CD.  Got bonus Kasai photos and a Sae folder.

Useless TV News:
Rogers Channel 267 (Travel and Escape) is free until April 1.  I just watched Bizarre Foods.  It's super interesting and features some good foods..., but tonight they boiled bull's scrotum until it is tender and ate it!!!  This is the sac, not the balls, I'm talking about!  The balls... the cooked and them and put them in sandwiches.
Before that, they showed huge black mussels.  The lady would force them open, and stuff them with cheese and sausage.  Then she would wire them shut and put it on the BBQ.  It looked so good!

Dinner today -> Steak with Corn and Nappa.
Nappa was on sale this week at Sobey's.  Probably because of Chinese New Year.  Got a huge bundle for less than $1.  Canned Peaches and Cream Corn was also on sale 4 for $5.
Cooked the steak with salt and pepper at 2 minutes a side.  Outside was cooked and the middle was rare.  The little touch of wasabi really adds to the flavour.

Today the Canadian Penny was retired.  These are the details and the rules to rounding.
So everytime it rounds down, I should pay cash and save up to 2 cents.  When it rounds up, I should use debit/credit.

Updated: Weekend Report: Super Bowl

I played some Proline on Sunday.  I picked:
- PIT over WAS,
- MTL over OTT, and
- SF over BAL.
I don't know anything about football, so I went with suggestions from a couple friends and the TSN analyst predictions.  At 8:50pm (when the black out happened), it looks like they were all wrong :(
Update (at 2min warning):
I need the 49ers to win by 4 or more points too.  It looks like the SF is making a comeback and it'll be close, but it looks like it won't be enough!!!

Food this weekend ->
Got a couple pizzas from Little Caesar's.  I got a Canadian and a Supreme Hot n Ready.  The cashier said all the pizzas were $5.99.  That usually the pepperoni price.  Did she make a make a mistake or did Little Caesar's change all their prices for Friday?

Made a small roast beef in the microwave with some sweet peppers, onions, and garlic.  The meat came out really rare, even for me, who likes it bloody.

I sliced it up and re-cooked it for a bit longer and it was too much.  It became well-medium and some were medium.

Didn't know what to eat on Sunday night.  I felt like going out and getting KNH or Rideau, but I was too lazy to take a shower and get dressed to head out.  I just threw together some Shanghai bok Choi, instant dry-cooked ramen, and some leftover roast beef for dinner.

I picked up 2 booster boxes, 1 fat pack, and 2 U/B pre-constructed starters of the new Magic set, Gate Crash.  I've only opened the fat pack and 1 booster box so far and got 2 Mind Grinds.  Need 2 more.  I did score 9 different mythic rares, but not Aurelia or the Planeswalkers.

Useless Gaming News:
Played 5-player Touch of Evil at Ben's house.  Brian got the expansion that expands the map and includs new heros, villians, and items.  We played co-op again, but I still think it would be way better (and shorter) in vs mode.  Before Gordon and Brian showed up, we played 3-player Road Kill Rally.  Right before we were about to finish the game, we discovered we played it without using one of the rules!

At the premier of the AKB48 Movie "Documentary of AKB48: No Flower Without Rain" on Friday, it was revealed in the movie that Itano Tomomi will graduate this year.  I just moved her up to 3rd on my favorites too.  No more Tomo-Tomo combo (Kasai-Itano) soon :(
