Long Weekend Report -> Storm Chips.

Food this weekend ->
Got the Half & Half Special from The Fry on Saturday.  Soy & garlic fried chicken and chicken with sauce.  Soooo good.  I also got an order of rice cakes.  This was really good too, but abit on the spicy side this time.  I ate the whole meal over 2 days.

Useless Food News:
I got a bag of the new "in" food to eat: Storm Chips.  I think they are only available at Farm Boy. It's 4 types of chips in 1 bag: sweet BBQ, salt & vinegar, ketchup, and dill.  It's very good.  Perfect for a party (*hint* *hint* Linda).

Useless Food News, Part Deux:
Susanna got me a couple new chocolates from the USA: Peanut Butter Snickers and Limited Edition Jalapeno Peanut M&Ms.  I haven't tried the peanut butter Snickers yet, but I did try the M&Ms.  They taste like a normal peanut M&M, but after you swallow, you can feel a small amount of heat in the back of your mouth/throat.  It's not a strong heat but a nice decent heat, stronger than the Jalapeno McChicken and the Habanero McChicken.  I like these M&Ms and I want more :)  Why don't they sell these in Canada!?!?

Useless Gaming News:
My monthy game night tonight at Peter's house.  It was 5 of us tonight.  We feasted on chicken from Popeyes and home made gyoza from Norm's wife.  Then and we got down to business and played Forbidden Sky and Dominion.  Dessert was Farmboy Ice Cream Sandwiches.
James, Sheridan and I have been playing 3-player Forbidden Sky at work on gaming days, but we never beat it over 4 tries; but tonight with 5 players, we got lucky on the draws and finally beat it.  We completed the circuit and launched the rocket with all players on-board.
We played a couple games of Dominion next.  Game 1: Very close game that came down to my unlucky last hand, which allowed Evan to just beat me by 1 point.  Then in game 2 it was close again, but I just beat Evan by 2 points.

Snow Storm

Dinner today -> KFC
The snow storm hit Kanata around 3:10pm today.  It was all clear and then "poof" heavy snow.  I took off and hustled to KFC.  I was hoping to go get Korean fried chicken from The Fry, but they don't open til 4pm on weekdays.

My plan is to hunker down tonight and to work from home on Wednesday, with a bucket of KFC by my side :).  Maybe I'll make some congee to go with it.

Weekend Report: Highway

Food this weekend ->
After getting a haircut, I went and got some flatbreads from Simbad Bakery on Saturday.  I got 3 meat, 2 zaatar, and 2 cheese pocket.  I devoured a meat while driving home.  It was toasty hot and delicious.

Useless Gaming News:
3 player gaming at Brian's house on Saturday night.  We played Tokyo Highway, Herbaceous Sprouts, and New Bedford.
New Bedford is a worker placement game about whaling and building a town.  So-so game.
Herbaceous Sprouts is the dice version of Herbaceous.  This game was fun.  It's about rolling dice to get combinations in order to plant and score points. 
Tokyo Highway is a dexterity game where each player builds their own highway around buildings and other highways.  To win you need to cross over or under opponent highways to place your car, and placing all your cars to win.  I think this game is better 4 players.

Lego Movie 2 Blind Pack Figs

Useless Lego News:
Picked up a few packs of the new Lego Movie 2 blind packs from Centrum Walmart.  I didn't know what figs were in the set as there was no box to check against.  The packs were just loose in a big bin by electronics.  Of the 4 packs I got, only 1 was from Lego Movie 2 :(  The other 2 are from The Wizard of Oz (Dorothy & Toto and Lion), and I got an duplicate Lion in the 4th pack.

I think I want to get #3 Benny, #4 Giraffe guy, #13 Abraham Lincoln (vampire hunter?), and #14 the Raptor Trainer.
BTW: from the checklist, there are 4 figs with mics.  I think will be a big musical number in the movie.

Year of the Pig

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

Took vacation Monday and Tuesday for Chinese New Year and because I have alot of vacation days to use.  This year is the Year of the Pig!

We had New Year's dinner at Rideau Restaurant.

The meal was OK.  The fish maw crab meat soup (not shown), chicken, steamed fish, pipa tofu, and beef with greens were good.  The pipa tofu was made very well this time and the fish was also well cooked.
I did't eat the Yi Mein noodles.  Never liked it.  I find it too mushy. 
The Sweet and Sour pork were sliced pork chop in a red sauce (aka not the expected sweet and sour pork with pineapple).  I ate a few pieces, but it was too lean.  It lacked the fatty bits from real sweet and sour pork.
And the other greens dish Ben wanted (hollow stem tips of spinach? or some other greens), I don't really like and it was really expensive ($16), but Ben insisted on getting it.  He was also a total baby and an a-hole about not changing it too. 
So I ate 5 of the 7 dishes, but really only enjoyed 4.  Glad I had food to eat later.

Useless Food News:
I tried the new Jalapeno McChicken from McDonalds.

It was not spicy.  I give it a 1 out of 10 for spice level. 

Not Hot.

The Habanero McChicken is a week away.  Maybe it will be hotter?  The Ghost pepper McChicken is 3 weeks away.

Lunch today -> Potluck.
Becky had the great idea to have a potluck today.  Good participation and tons of food.

Alot of dessert selection too.  I worked from home in the morning to make fresh Monkey Bread.

Useless Food News:
Saw this at Walmart and couldn't believe they got away will selling this, when there was this whole big fiasco about the "Cut the Wire" game.

It's 3 hot sauces packaged like dynamite, including shoestring laces to simulate fuses.  I had to buy it.  (I also bought Cut the Wire.)

Weekend Report -> 3 Day Boardgaming

Food this weekend ->
Made a salad for dinner on Friday.  It had lettuce, grape tomatoes, red onions, corn, a boiled egg, ham, and avocado.  Dressed it with Caesar dressing.

Went to a Potluck/games night at Jeff's house on Saturday night.  I forgot to take a pic of the food, but I got a shot of dessert.  We tried out the Chocolats Favoris' "dulce de leche" fondue can by dipping strawberries in it and I put some on my apple pie slice.  It was really delicious.

Made spaghetti with meat sauce for dinner on Sunday night.  Sauce is just chopped onions, garlic, ground beef, Bravo tomato sauce, and tomato paste.

Snack today -> McDonalds.
Ed and I went to McDonalds for coffee break.  We got coffee and a FREE medium fry each.  They were free using the McDonalds app because the Raptors scored 12 3-pointers last night.

Dinner today -> Big Bone BBQ. 
I got the Monday special.  Ate it at my parent's house.  It was very good, but I should have asked for the ribs to be extra saucy.  It would have been better that way.

Useless Food News:
Tried out the Limited Edition Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Oreos from the US.  It's good.  It has a graham cracker cookie and matches to peanut butter and chocolate filling.  It could use some more peanut butter flavour, it was peanut butterier than the Butter Nutter cookies.

I tried a new flavour of Green Tea: Honey Lemon Ginseng, and I really like it.  It tastes and smells like "Fruit Loops"!  It's on sale at Loblaws this week at $1 off, so I got a couple more cans.

Useless Gaming News:
Impromptu gaming at Anthony's place late Friday night.  We played some Splendor and Web of Spies.
On Saturday night, we played more games because Cindy was in town.  We played Sushi Go, King of Tokyo, Pictomania, and Camel Up ver2.0.  It was lots of fun (see below).
Then on Sunday, James, Sheridan and I played Scythe and Terra Mystica.
