Weekend Report: T&T Night Market

Food this weekend ->
I went to the T&T Night Market on Friday night with Ben and meet Gordon and Judy there.  I went again on Saturday night with Susanna.  There was alot of food stalls and people.
Ben waited 30mins for some lamb sticks.  They were made the traditional way over coals.  They tasted pretty good.

There was also a seafood grill tent with Lobster, mussels, scallops, and whelks.

I got some Whelks.  They were good, but it needed garlic butter.

I also got some popcorn chicken and deep fried squid tubes.

Ben got some takoyaki, but it wasn't good.  It was also $5 for 6!  (No pic, doesn't deserve one.)
Susanna got a "Hokkaido style" squid on a stick. It was good.  It was $10 on Fri, but $8 on Sat.  Then at 11pm Sat, they were $5.

The big hit of the festival was the Hong Kong style Smelly Tofu.

It smelled like sewer mixed with smelly socks mixed with egg fart.  I think the smell stuck to my hair or shirt.  I kept smelling it on the walk back to the car. 
The line up for this smelly tofu was the longest.  I think the line moved slower than the lamb sticks.  I wanted to try it, but I didn't have a patience to wait.
The older Chinese ladies in line were saying to each other, "The smellier the better!" and "This is the best!".

I also made steak with seared bak choi.

It was so good, I made it again and added a couple cucumber sticks.  BTW: Steak is on sale at Sobey's.

Lunch today -> McDonalds
Picked up some McDoubles and Apple Pies for lunch today.  Less than $7 for this meal.

I was satisfied after 2 McDoubles and 1 Apple Pie.  Gave the other apple pie away and saving the other McDouble for Friday.

Useless Chips News:
I picked up the new Lay's Chips flavour: Grilled Cheese & Ketchup Sandwich.  It's an Ottawa created flavour.  I haven't tried it yet, but I will this weekend.

Useless Idol News:
Announced today at the AKB48 concert: on Nov 10 there will be a 48groups draft.  Captains of each team will draft members for their team.  Details to be revealed later.
Sounds cool.  Kind of like the NHL All-Star Game draft.

Dinner today -> Rotini.
I made some rotini with quartered mushrooms and breakfast sausages with tomato & sour cream sauce.  I made a big bowl of it because I missed lunch today.

Useless Gaming News:
Got my Kick Started "Drum Roll" game today in the mail.  The package had the main game with 2 pencil case-like storage pouches, and card sleeves.  Coming later is the Mini-expansion, tracker tents, autograph card and the Kick Starter promos.  Brian and I thought we were missing these pieces.

I missed softball today because I had a ton of work assigned to me to complete today.  Anyways, CMC Strike Fighters beat Rockwell Collins tonight, 19-18.  Great job team!

I made an order to Meeplemart last week for some games.  I made the order because I got a notification that "CA$H 'n GUN$" was available again and I jumped on it.  Didn't expect it to arrive this fast.

Long Weekend Report: Lots of Seafood

Big Bird Poop!

It must have been one big seagull that bombed my car!  It was a huge splat!  Good thing it rained hard this weekend to clean it off.

Food this weekend ->
Bought a bag of Dungeness Crab from Walmart.  It was on sale this week.  I boiled/steamed them and ate this bowl while watching some Korean Running Man episodes.  I'm up to episode 26 now.

Got some fresh Salmon from Loblaws.  It was on sale too.  Topped it with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dill.  Then I pan fried it butter.  I spooned butter over it to cook the top without flipping the fish.  It was really good.

Later, I thought the spoon had cooled down, so I put it in my mouth to clean it off and burned my lips!

and a cooked Tilapia fish.  The fish was really good.  Only $4 too from the Asian Green Fresh grocery store.  I kind of want more.  Too bad it's so far away.

Ben came back from MTL on Monday.  I asked him to get me a Nutella Crepe cake from Les Delices Lafrenaie.  He picked up a small cake and we divided it into thirds.  I took a third, Ben took a third, and we gave the last third to Jeff/Linda to try.  So many delicious layers.

Useless Gaming News:
Did some 4 player gaming at Brian's house.
Brian and I played "For the Win" while waiting for Gordon and Paul.  Neat little game with alot of strategy.

Then we played 4 player Neuroshima Hex.  It's a neat game but totally random and unbalanced.  Brian was on my team and gave up early, but I continued on.  We turned it around and started winning.  When Paul and Gordon had no chance soon after, they gave up.  I think is an OK game, but not something I would play often.

Next was the old Dune board game from 1979.  It's OK.  Some rules aren't clear, and alliances unbalance the game.  Some parts seem similar to Game of Thrones board game where you use a leader in battles.  I'm willing to try this again, but I didn't find it that interesting.

To close out the night we played a basic game of Guilds of Cadwallon.  Only 1 round of the basic game, but it should be better next time when we use the contracts and random conditions.  I like the game as it's a fast simple strategic game.

Sore Back

Don't know what I did, but my back was really sore this morning.  I took a sick day to say home and lie down.  I think it's because I didn't stretch enough before softball and yesterday I was carrying some rice bags wrong.
I ended up watching 4 Running Man episodes.  I'm starting to really get into this show.  I'm at episode 17.  I've got about 130+ more to go.

Finally found some Takoyaki at T&T last week.  I haven't seen them there for a long time.  These are better good when you top them with mayo, tonkatsu sauce, and fish flakes.

I made microwave popcorn with the new Pop Up Bowl.  It actually works and is pretty handy.

Got these AKB48 cards in the mail today.  The gold foil one is the super rare Kashiwagi (about equivalent to a mythic rare in Magic, but probably more rare).  I also got these 3 Transformers sketch cards.
