So Much Snow

50cm of snow fell today.  Took me an hour to get home, when it's normally 5-10 minutes, and that's with me leaving early too.  There was traffic on March Rd because an OC Transpo Bus got stuck and was blocking the road.  Good thing a cop was nearby to direct traffic.
When I got home, this huge pile of snow was at the end of the drive way.  Took me another 15 mins to clear enough space to get the car in the garage.  I'm so glad I have snowplow service.  It's totally worth it :)

Long Weekend Report -> Family Day

Monday was "Family Day".  A holiday where the government is open, and everything else is closed.  Just stayed home and played Family Farm Seaside on my phone.  If Walmart or Sobeys was open, I would have gone and gotten some groceries.
BTW: Huge snow storm on Tuesday.  30cm of snow!

Food this weekend ->
Made homemade "Supreme" congee to take to Jeff & Linda's place for dinner on Sunday.  These are the ingredients I used: chicken broth, abalone, dehydrated chives, dashi, preserved duck eggs, shitake mushrooms, and ground pork (not shown).

I freezed the rice over night in water so it broke down faster when boiled to make the congee base.  It was really good and flavourful.  Every spoonful was full of stuff.

Dinner at Jeff & Linda's was good.  Ben made baked cod in soy sauce.  Linda made a really good red curry with chicken.  It had a good spice to it.  She also made a good daikon radish cake.  I liked it alot.  I got the leftovers too :)

Before and after dinner we did abit of gaming.  We played Star Trek: Five Year Mission.  After dinner we played Machi Koro, Tsuru, The Game, and Dixit.

Don't Shop When Hungry

Dinner today -> Discount T&T Food.
Susanna and I made a mistake and went to T&T tonight while hungry.  We bought a pile of discount food to eat for a late dinner.  We got fried rice, chicken, garlic chives, sweet & sour pork, fried squid tentacles, 2x chicken karaage, 2x Korean potato noodles, and Portuguese tarts.

Useless Gaming News:
Wednesday night, the CMC gaming group played Pandemic.  Because we played by the rules of not playing with an open hand, and by allowing each player to do what he wants; it did NOT end up being a 1 player game.  It was much more enjoyable experience.
Today, for gaming lunch, we played Meteor.  The 5 minute game of saving the Earth.  We played a couple beginner rounds with revealed meteors and free talking.  We won those fairly easily.  Then we got serious and played a real game (hidden meteors and no talking) and we lost 4 of 5 games.  Fun and difficult game.

Snack today -> Korean Fried Sea Tangle.
I got this new snack from T&T: Korean Fried Sea Tangle.  Basically deep-fried seaweed covered with salt and sugar.  On the initial bite, you get a crunchy sweet and salty taste.  Then after chewing, you get a slightly bitter aftertaste.  This must be a "beer food".  I tried to give it away at work and only Marcellus took it.  Everyone else didn't like it.

Cheeseburger Ruffles

Snack today -> Flame Grilled Cheeseburger Ruffles.
Got this bag of chips a couple weeks ago at Sobey's and only opened them today.  They are good.  They taste just like a Harvey's cheeseburger.  It's got a slight pickle/mustard/burger after taste.  I need to pick up some more before they are gone.

New Aquarium Fish!

Snack today -> Chocolate Covered Marshmallows.
Becky got me this treat from Sobey's for Chinese New Year.  It was very good.  The milk chocolate was just enough sweetness to go with the fluffy marshmallows.

Dinner today -> Croissants with Jam.
Julie shared with me a new way to eat croissants on the weekend.  Today I wanted more.  It's just croissants with abit of tart jam.  We used E.D Smith's Apricot, Peach, and Passion Fruit Jam.  Just spoon abit of jam onto each bit.  It's really good.  The sweet and tart jam enhances the savouriness of the croissant.  Everyone should try this.  It feels like a very high class way of eating too :)

I got 6 glass catfish, 5 Red Wag Platies, and 5 Tequila Sunrise Delta Guppies.  I definitely want some more of the guppies.  They actually swim around in a school and play with each other.  One of them even swam backwards taunting the others towards it.

I also got 5 small Japanese Ghost Shrimp.  I'm having the hardest time trying to find them as they blend in and hide very well with my decorations.  I've only seen 3 at one time, so I don't know if the other 2 are alive or dead (or eaten?).  They are about 1cm long.  I think I want more of these little guys.

I'm not sure why, but 3 glass catfish have died already!  It was good that I got them 2 for 1, but now its just regular price.  I think another one is starting to go too.  He's lying on the gravel not moving alot.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

This year is the "Year of the Monkey".  It's Ben's year.
Chinese New Year's Eve was on Sunday.  I went to my parent's house to do prayers.

And to have New Year's Dinner afterwards.  It was good stuff.  tofu soup, shitake mushrooms with abalone, pork bean curd rolls, beef tongue, roast pork, chicken, potato noodles, pork hock, brocolli with fish balls, and tempura shrimp.

We also tried out the new little gold nugget pastry.  It tasted like a moon cake.
