Happy Retirement Mike!

Lunch today -> Lone Star.
Mike is retiring on Friday, but his retirement lunch party was today at Lone Star.  I'd say 3/4 of the company was there along with ex-CMC people.  He was my first boss, and the one that hired me.
I got a steak and guacamole sandwich with fries.  It was alright.  Not very much steak in the sandwich and the fries were really salty.

A 2nd location for "Art Haven" has opened at the old Kanata Town Center.  It's behind Basics before Danaldo's Barber Shop.
This shop lets you paint various pottery things and they sell good bubble tea!  I got myself a taro milk bubble tea after getting a haircut yesterday.

Useless Gaming News:
Still re-organizing my basement, but it's getting there.  Steve was able to order for me a switch box.  Julie uses this one and it auto detects what gaming system is in use to display on the TV.  Fairly cheap too.

I got my Kickstarted copy of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on Nintendo Switch in yesterday.  It's made by the creator of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and is his new take on it without using the Castlevania theme.  Not very far in yet, but this game is awesome!  Lots to explore, lots to collect, and lots secrets to find.

Cheetos Leaves

Snack today -> Cheetos Leaves.
Tried out the Limited Edition Cheetos Leaves.  Each Cheeto is shaped like a maple leaf.  It's alright.  Tastes like regular cheetos, but you actually get less in the back compared to a normal bag; and for the same price.  But it's a Canada Day thing.

Useless Softball News:
Strike Fighters beat Alcatel in a super close match 18-17 in a late game tonight. 
In the bottom of the last inning, we were down 16-17.  Margaret hit a single and scored the tying run from third base.  Then Andrew hit deep triple and Margaret scored the winning run!
I hit 3-for-3 tonight: triple, walk, and single.

Hellmann's Gochujang

Spent most of the weekend re-organizing my basement and main floor.  Today Marc and I went to IKEA to get one of the final pieces I needed, a 5x5 Kallax shelf.  The boxes were too big to fit in my car, but not Marc's new car.

After getting the shelf, I went and got pizza from Little Ceasars: a hot 'n' ready pepperoni.

I also found a new Hellmann's Gochujang sauce at Sobey's.  I added that on the pizza I ate.  It's pretty good.  Adds a different spicy kick.

Possible Food Poisoning

Not a great day today.  I think I got food poisoning from the artichoke & asiago cheese dip I ate Wednesday night.  I had a stomach ache most of the day on Thursday.  It also didn't help that at 7:05am this morning, my backyard neighbour decided to mow the lawn!  It was so loud.  Who does this at 7am!  Them apparently.

Dinner today -> Chicken a la King.
Bought some chicken thighs after work and made chicken rice for dinner.  Just salted the chicken and topped it on the rice in the rice cooker and pressed start.  Very simple.

When it was done, I made some "A La King" sauce from a pack I found at Dollarama.  It's pretty good.  Poured the sauce over rice, chicken, and veggies.

Snack today -> Ruby Cocoa KitKat
Found the new 4th chocolate "ruby cocoa", at Centrum Walmart Wednesday night.  I've been waiting for this since I read about it being an exclusive KitKat in Japan last year.

It tastes pretty good.  I "berry" like taste.  Hopefully other companies will get the Ruby chocolate now and I can try some without the wafer.

Snack yesterday -> Wasabi Rice Crackers.
Found this snack at Dollarama by the Super Walmart in Kanata.  It is surprisingly extremely good.  The rice crackers are nice and crunchy and they have a good wasabi kick, especially the white pieces.  I recommend go trying this snack.

Food this weekend ->
Took Thursday and Friday off to have an extra long weekend for my birthday.  Met up with Julie on Thursday to see "The Secret Life of Pets 2" at Coliseum.  The movie was alright.  Wasn't as good as the first one, but fun to watch.
Went back to Julie's place afterwards where she had made me Black Forest cupcakes (my favorite cake) with cherry cheesecake filling!  They were topped with Cool Whip and maraschino cherries.  These cupcake were so good!  Thanks Julie! :)  (I took home a bunch of them)

Had Hawaiian pizza from Willy's and 30 chicken wings from Costco on Friday.  The wings are a great deal as they are fresh and big.  The pizza had tons of cheese and lots of bacon.

I had to bring the car in on Saturday to get it fixed.  A shock had broken off one of the rear tires and was flopping around making really loud bang noises whenever I hit a bump.  There goes my birthday money :(  Waited 1.5hrs to get it fixed.  Then I headed off the Lowes to get some stuff but it was out of stock in Kanata.  I hit Hunt Club Lowes to get it, and since I was there, I got some Captains Boil takeout.  I got 1 order of mussels, 1 order of shrimp, and 2 orders of potatoes.  I made some white rice at home too, and then feasted.

Cool Note #1: One of the mussels had a whole baby crab in it.
Cool Note #2: Most of the shrimp had 2 layers of shell.  I think they were just about to shed the hard outer layer as there was a soft inner layer already on the meat.  These shrimp were almost softshell shrimp.

Dinner today -> Rideau Carleton Raceway Buffet.
Went with the family to the Rideau Carleton Raceway for their 2-for-1 buffet tonight.  It was my early birthday dinner.  The prime rib was very good as was the salmon.  The ribs were good too.  But everything else was OK.  It was very crowded when we ate at 7pm.

The desserts were hit or miss.  The mini cheesecake tarts were very good.  The chocolate cake was very dry and the chocolate truffles were disgusting.

Useless Snack News:
Tried out the new Creamy Chill from Tim Hortons on Monday.  I got the vanilla flavour.  It's good.  Very much like a Iced Cap, but without the coffee flavour.  $4 for the medium size.

I finished opening my box of Modern Horizons last night.  On Sunday I had pulled a Urza, Lord High Artificer from the first 6 packs!  He's a $60 card.  Then on Monday night I pulled a foil Urza!!!  I thought it was worth $200CDN, but Gordon corrected me this morning.  It's worth $300CDN!!!

Weekend Report -> Strike Fighters Winners

Food this weekend ->
Bought some Captains Boil takeout on Sunday and ate it with my parent's and Susanna.  Ben didn't get any as he is allergic to shellfish.  For seafood, I got 1 lb of shirmp, 1lb of mussels, and 1lb of crayfish; all in Captain's Boil sauce.  I also got 3 orders of potatoes and 1 order of lotus root.

This was the right amount for 4 of us.  It was really good.  They mussels were big as were the shrimp.  The crawfish were abit of a let down, but I wanted to try them.  They weren't big and yielded little meat.

Useless Softball News:
Our mid-season softball tournament was on Saturday.  The Strike Fighters played very well and hit great all day.  It was hot and tiring, but we pushed on and we WON the Division C2 Championship!  It was a fun day and we had good snacks throughout (bacon wrapped cheese curds, timbits, cream puffs).

Four-for-Four

Dinner today -> Rideau.
Late dinner today due to a softball tournament game tonight.  I ordered beef chow mein, but what I got was beef brisket chow mein.  That's OK, as it's also good. 
I also ordered "smooth egg shrimp rice noodle" (direct translation).  Basically its flat rice noodles, slightly fried, with a creamy egg sauce with shrimp and green peas.

Useless Softball News:
1st tournament game tonight for the Strike Fighters vs Rockwell.  It was close at the start, but we got our bats going and we pulled away.  Also, Alex's defence was full ON tonight.  He moved like a cat and snagged balls out of the air. 
We won 16-9.  Since we won, we play 8am on Saturday... 8am!!!
I came back from 0-for-3 last game to hit 4-for-4 tonight: Single, Walk, Single, and a Double.

Got the exclusive Ghostbusters X Transformers collaboration figure in the mail today.  It's Ectotron.  He transforms into Ecto-1.  I think I will pick up the comic later.

Lunch today -> Sushi and Pringles.
Leftover sushi from Sunday night made a good lunch.  Also had the new Pringles Groovz: Applewood Smoked Cheddar.  These new Pringles are not bad.  They are thicker than I like, but it works for this flavour.

Didn't know what to eat tonight after softball so I picked up 6 quarter chickens from Loblaws and ate 3 of them.

Strike Fighters lost a close game tonight.  We blew our lead and lost in the last innning 12-11. 
I hit 0-for-3 tonight!  1 ground out and 2 pop flys.  I haven't hit this bad in a long time.  Tournament starts Wednesday and I need to get my swing back.

Found the Transformers: Siege Rescue Patrol Microbots at Walmart.  Didn't see the spy patrol (Ravage and Laserbeak).

Made a chicken medley soup on Saturday.  I threw together chicken drum sticks, oyster mushrooms, carrots , sausage, garlic, and gluten balls.  The broth is just water, soy sauce and dashi.  It was pretty good.

4 Player gaming on Friday night at Jeff's along with Ben and Anthony.  We played Space Base.  It's a dice game that plays similar to Machi Koro and Valeria: Card Kingdoms.  Probably fits right between them in complexity.
We finished up the night with a few games of Pairs.
