Trophies have Arrived!!!

The Bad News:
Jessica was kicked out of Korean Idol group Girls Generation today by their management company.  I saw the tweet late last night and read the news this morning.  Too bad.  I liked her and she was really good on Running Man too.  My favorite is still Taeyeon.

The Good News:
I picked up the softball trophies today.  They've been forever engraved with the "CMC Strike Fighters" name :).

The Best News:
After picking up the trophies, I got some KFC for dinner.  I wanted more chicken before the 9-piece promotion was over.  The bucket normally had 5 drums and 4 thighs, but today I got 5 drums and 5 thighs!  Score!

Lego Star Destroyer

Useless Toy News:
I was at Target last Friday and I spotted the new Lego Star Destroyer on the shelf.  I scanned the price and noticed that the price of the new Star Destroyer used the same barcode as the old Star Destroyer, which meant it was on a Clearance Price of $104!  It was $45 off!  I snagged it right away.  Too bad there was only 1.  It would have made a great Christmas gift for someone, but I had to get my copy first.  Now I just need to find some time to put it together.

Food this weekend ->
For mom's birthday dinner we got Rideau Restaurant takeout and 2ORDERS of 9-piece special KFC!  Chinese food and KFC.  Great meal.

Then we had Birthday Cake.  It was Strawberry Whipped Cake from Swiss Pastries at Carlingwood Mall.  Super fresh and good.

Saturday morning, Ben and I went to Ribtober Fest downtown.  We headed straight to Camp31.  No point going to the others, just to the best.  I got 2 racks of ribs, one with beans and coleslaw.  Ben got 1 rack and pulled pork from Uncle Sam's.

Later that night we went to Evelyn's 100 days old party.  Lots of meats for dinner.

Got my Khans of Tarkir boxes: 2 Boosters, 1 Fat Pack, and 1 Event Deck.  I wanted some deck boxes, but still now new stock.

Garlic Chives

Dinner today -> Garlic Chives with Liver and Toast.
Got some chicken liver and quick fried them with some garlic chives.

Kept the liver abit on the rare side as it tastes more smooth, like pate.  Ate that with some toast.  Thick cut Villaggio toast.  Really good.  Garlic chives goes perfectly with chicken liver.

Saw about 20 Jetfires at Kanata Toys R Us.  Didn't pick it up.  They are $60 each!  I have to wait for a sale.
I also saw the new Disney Marvel Infinity game.  I'm thinking of getting it.  Either for PS4 or PC.

Lunch today -> Fish and Chips and Churros.
Ed and I went to the Wednesday Kanata Community Hub to see the food trucks today.  There was Big D's poutine truck, The Glen's Fish and Chips truck, and a Churro stand.  There was an exercise show to promote a gym too.

I got the 2 piece beer battered fish.  It came with fries, slaw, tartar sauce, and a drink for $15 ($17 with tax).  Totally worth it.

I also ordered 3 churros.  I got my fish in about 5-6 minutes, but the 3 churros took 20 minutes!  I don't know what took him so long.  My fish was cold by the time I got it.  He gave me my money back with the churros, but I'm still never going to buy from him again.  Ed and I think they were alittle under cooked in the middle too.
Hey Jeff/Anthony, you should go to the food trucks on Wednesday too.  It's only a 5 min walk from Mitel (5 min from CMC too, but I still drove, hehehe).

It's belated as I forgot to post it on Sunday, but I did get you a present.  I'll bring it the next time I drop by.

Today is also the 1st day of autumn.  Summer just flew by and I think we only had 1 really hot week.  Rained alot too.  But that's ok.  I prefer fall over summer.

I went to Hazeldean Mall at lunch time today.  No new Transformers or good toy sales at Target (expect for the Lego Star Destroyer sale that has been sold out for weeks.  Maybe I should get a rain check for it?). 
Dropped by Sushi House after to get some freshly made sushi.  Got a 8-piece salmon avocado pack for $4.99 and a 16-piece combo pack for $9.99.  The combo had cucumber avocado roll, smoke salmon avocado roll, spicy salmon and crab roll, and crab avocado roll.  Good sushi for a good price.

Useless Idol News:
Got a big package in the mail today.  It included the Manga Action magazine featuring AKB48's Yokoyama Yui, Oshima Yuko Photobook, and Weekly Playboy magazine featuring AKB48.

I also got AKB48's Kokoro no Placard CDs (Type A-D) and Kasai Tomomi's Ima Sara Sara CDs (Type A-C) with bonus photos.

Blue Crab's Claws Popped Off

Food this weekend ->
Picked up some goodies on Friday at the Asian grocery store by Arby's.  Got the meat and mushroom filled rice noodle wraps and some sweet sesame balls.  I also hit the Sushi House at the Hazeldean Mall for sushi.  The sushi there is good and very reasonably priced.  I recommend it.

Spent most of Saturday working, but I tried the Little Ceasar's Pretzel Pizza.  It's not that good.  The crust did taste like pretzel, but the pretzel salt kept falling off.  I found it really salty too.  The cheese sauce was good, but it could use more cheese sauce.  Probably won't be getting this again.

Saturday dinner was another 9-piece special bucket of KFC :).  Deal is too good to not get.  I'm getting a habit of crunch the bones to split them and eating the marrow.

After work on Sunday I dropped by T&T and got some blue crabs.  I looked up how to identify the females with eggs.  It's pretty simple and I got 5 females.  I left them in the sink willed with water.  I thought they would die like lobsters, but he chlorine doesn't affect them.  It least I got them too poop out the remaining poop.

I boiled them salt water.  1 crab was especially feisty.  When I plunged her in the boiling water both her claws popped off from the shock.

After cooking in water, I popped the shells off and ate those.  Then I split the bodies in half and finished them in Butter Chicken sauce.  Ate the bodies with white rice.

BTW: I wanted to get some Frank's sandwiches too, but they changed their hours to be closed on Sundays!  Thats too bad as I preferred to go on Sunday to get my lunches for Monday and Tuesday.

Atlantic Salmon Cheeks

Dinner today -> Lotus Root and Atlantic Salmon Cheeks Rice Bowl.
I got a package of Atlantic Salmon Cheeks from T&T.  I pan seared them with some oil and finished them with a little soy sauce.  Poured them on a rice bowl with leftover lotus root.

The cheeks had a texture of scallops.  There were alot of cheeks in the bag.  Must have taken atleast 15-20 salmon heads to get these many cheeks.

Smashed Eggs

I went to Sobey's after work today to get some groceries.  I grabbed a 6 pack of eggs, but they were stacked with an overlap with the pack on top of it, so the top pack fell on the floor.  I checked it, and all the eggs were smashed.  I didn't want the smashed ones, so I put it back on the shelf.  Whoever stacked the eggs did a bad job.  All the stacks were trapped, so if you move a bottom one, the top one will fall.  So just a warning that there is a 6 pack of smashed free-range eggs at Sobey's.  Check before you buy.

Apparently every Wednesday in the Kanata Business Park, food trucks are setup at lunchtime.  They are located in the parking lot between Mitel and CMC (the Community Hub near 5-6 picnic benches and 3 flags).  Today there was only 1 food truck: Big D's.  The food trucks are supposed to be announce on this site.

I got The Coney Island.  It was poutine topped with a meat sauce, onions, and spicy mustard.  Mine was really good and filling.  (Poutine on the right.)

Useless Idol News:
I didn't get up to watch the AKB48 Janken Tournament.  I just read the results on Twitter.  I probably should have got up and watched it, as I read it was really entertaining.

The final came down to AKB48 1st generation Kojima Haruna (aka Kojiharu) vs NMB48's fisherman Watanabe Miyuki (aka Milky).

Dinner today -> Fried Intestine and Lotus Root.
Marinated some intestine in some Korean BBQ Sauce and pan fried it.  It was sweet, savoury, and alittle blacken :)  Ate that with some rice and leftover Lotus Root.

Got 3 KickStarter games in the mail today.  I got Dungeon Roll Winter Heroes Pack, Burgoo, and This Town Ain't Big Enough For The 2-4 Of Us.
The Winter Heroes Pack is just an expansion to Dungeon Roll.
Burgoo is a short game that involves removing stew ingredients from your batch into the pot.  Lose the most pieces first to win.
This Town Ain't Big Enough For The 2-4 Of Us is a short tile laying game where you score points by closing corrals.

Weekend Report: Work, Games, and Sick

Worked parts of the weekend.  Lots to do, but progress is not fast.  On top of that, I'm getting sick.  I think it's a cold.  Headache, tired, runny/stuffy nose, cough.  Advil Cold works wonders :)

Food this weekend:
Got a bucket of KFC.  The 9-piece thigh and drum special for $9.99.  It's such a good deal, that it's mostly what I ate this weekend.  Made rice to go with it, but KFC and sweet nectarines go well together too.

Useless Gaming News:
Friday night gaming at Brian's place.  We started with Dark Gothic.  A deck building card game version of Touch of Evil.  Pretty good game.  Takes ideas from Touch of Evil and Legendary and merged them together.
Then we played Conquest of Planet Earth.  So-so game.  Same type of game as Last Night on Earth, but instead of zombies, it's aliens.  It was Brian's idea to play it, but I'm not sure if he wanted to, as he was playing on his phone most of the time.
Then we played Archer.  This game is really fun.  I like it alot.

Saturday night gaming at Anthony's place.  We played a couple rounds of Killer Bunnies.  I think it's a decent game, but it all comes to random chance who holds the winning carrot.
After we played alot of Biblios.  This game could very likely be my #1 game of choice to play.  All about strategic card drafting and auctioning, with a splash of luck.

CMC Strike Fighters defeated Sons of Pitches in the Championship Game by a score of 16-14.  It was a very close game, but we maintained a consistent threat with the bat and decent defense in the field.  We did this for 7 innings in the rain.

Gary was able to return from injury and be our starting pitcher.  He was able to shut down they big hitters, as they knew how to hit off Mark.
MVP: Sean.  4-for-4 with 4 RBI, including 3 in the 7th inning for the winning runs.
I only hit 1-for-3 with a single.  Now I can cut my hair, as I didn't want to cut my playoff hair :)

Useless Softball News:
We defeated DRS in a thrilling semi-final match, 10-9.  We were down 9-1 after 2 innings, but we held them at 9 and slowly crawled back to win in the last inning.
MVP#1: Tanya.  She's been power hitting everything this playoffs and she drove in the game winning RBI
MVP#2: Margaret.  She made a bunch of great catches playing 2nd base.
I hit 2-for-2 tonight with 2 singles.
We now advance to the finals vs Sons of Pitches (who in the game before our's almost started a brawl with Chipworks).  This is a rec league, but they are too serious and aren't fun to play against.  So we got to beat them on Wednesday.

In the name of the Moon, we shall punish you!

I want this egg device.  It pretty much scrambles an egg inside it's own shell!  Not sure where I can order this yet.  Maybe I can request from one of my order sites.

To the Semi-Finals

Useless Softball News:
CMC Strike Fighters began our playoff run on Friday night.  We played Chipworks in the 1st round.  We defeated them 19-14, on a big 6th inning to retake the lead.  I only hit 1-for-3 with a single.

Round 2 Saturday vs DRS.  We played them recently and we remember their homerun hitters.  Mark was able to shut them down most of the game with a big strikeout on their best hitter too.  We won 11-2.  I hit 1-for-2 with a single.

Round 3 vs Sons of Pitches.  We lost big against them, 13-0, but it was actually a close game.  It was 1-0 game until the 5th inning where we gave up 8 runs.  I hit 3-for-3 with 3 singles (got out 3 times in a row at 2nd because of Stefano ;) )  Even with the loss, we still advance to the Semi-Finals Monday night, we just play a tougher opponent to get to the Finals.

Food this weekend ->
Breakfast on Saturday was fresh rice, 2 sunny-side-up eggs, and candied salmon.

After the last softball game on Saturday, I went to get some KFC.  I ordered the 9 piece dark meat special for $9.99 and added medium fries and medium gravy for $5.  They ran out of chicken when I ordered, so I had to wait 15 minutes for the next batch to finish cooking.  They gave me a free drink while waiting.  Then when I got my food, they gave me 2 free strawberry cheese cake slices :)

Sunday night, family had a Moon Festival dinner.  BBQ Tray from T&T, rice noodles, dishes from Rideau, and Moon cakes (an 8 egg moon cake).

Dinner today -> Chicken with Garlic Rice.
Got some chicken drumsticks some instant Uncle Ben's garlic rice from Walmart.  I pan fried the chicken to brown them.  I then steamed them in the same pan, like I was making gyoza.

I read this article this morning about the Chinese version of Ninja Warrior.  This guy made it right to the finish line of the stage and then did some showboating to the crowd.  See how he epic fails.  LOL!
